First of all the BlueBorn Scanner app is just a gimmick. It doesn't do anything but checks the date of the Android security patch and if it's from this September or newer (I guess), it says you are safe.
I just edited the date in the build.prop file of my Z Pro and voila:
The next step in the app is to ''check devices around me''. Another cheating: Of course, it can not check the vulnarability of any devices through their bluetooth connections, so the app always states ''Medium risk'' regardless of the real security states of the discovered devices.
That's all about the app.
About the vulnerability... It's a vulnerability got discovered recently but that was always present. Despite that, we don't know about a mass of devices hacked using this vulnerability. Google releases security patches to fix such vulnerabilities every month. This is just one among the many others, it's not more serious and it doesn't carry a higher risk. All that happened is a company called Armis has come to the scene, created a gimmick app and built a great hype around a specific but quite not special security issue. They will earn a lot on their action, of course.
About the solution... Android security patch updates come with system updates, so until a specific model gets new updates, security updates are provided as well. Currently I don't know wheter UMIDIGI Z Pro will receive further updates or not but this BlueBorne case will not effect their availability.
