Edited by robertgida at 2015-9-6 01:15 \n\nThe TCL M2U has the same bands as eMAX.   And almost the Alcatel Flash Plus. Maybe their ROMs are better for the eMAX than M2M ROMs. It's only an idea, I didn't try it.
Whatewer the point:  we have an Alcatel/TCL phone, not the UMI's own development.
I'm sorry for the practical joke:  UMI eMAX is an Alcatel clown... Dolly the clown...

I am prepping Kubuntu on a Virtual Machine on my computer. I'll give it a shot, but I've never done android hacking/development before (I've done other types of coding/hacking, just nothing in regards to android).
I'll see what I can do!

Dear bencebacsi,
Yes, at last I don't mind that we have an Alcatel/TCL phone, it's rather comforting, but of course also a little disappointment for me, because I believed I bought an "original" type of an "original" trade mark. Alcatel bigger and more known name than UMI, so I can say to the uncultivated Hungarian I have an Alcatel phone, hurrah, hehe. This is a good phone but the camera...

So far I've yet to successfully do a system.img->system.raw->system.img using the provided tools... I have no idea what the issue is though. I'm making sure that the size of the ext4->sparse is equal to the size provided in the scatter (yes, converted to bytes), but for the life of me I still can't get a working rom. I'm not doing any editing right now, just trying to unpack and then repack the rom. Does the size need to be less than the size listed in the scatter? I'm stumped.

I've got these TCL M2M firmwares + a working, lollipop compatible TWRP recovery. Our UMI eMax can boot up running these firmwares but without mobile network and camera. As far as I know, there're no other phones with a such level of compatibility.
5.x Recovery updates can't be installed from 4.4 recovery and you can't install a 5.x recovery on a 4.4 system. So, the first step is to flash the ROM provided by a UMI admin on facebook with SPFT.

UMI eMax (TCL M2M) Android 5.0 SPFT version

You may flash the TWRP recovery separately or together with the above full flash by replacing the original one with it in the list of partitions (Double click on the file path line).

Three different recovery update versions:
TCL M2M Abdroid 5.0 official ROOT 2015.7.16
TCL M2M MIUI7 Beta3 Android 5.0 202015.9.7
TCL M2M Flyme4.5.4A Beta2 Android 5.1 2015.8.7

P.s.: I edited the build.prop to show up 'UMI eMAX'

I do not know if the translator done his job. Let me see if I understand correctly: Installing these firmwares have our EMAX with a score of 45,712 but without mobile data continue without camera? So we want to ???? It remains a useless Lollipop

Yes but you don't lose only mobile data but the complete mobile network. No call and SMS. Yes, it's useless.
