I did some more testing:  the phone connects fine to 2 different Laptops using Linux(Ubuntu) and Windows7 ! - so the connector/socket and cable are fine, it's just an issue to connect to Windows10!!!!

So it seems the UMI Super is not supported by Windows 10 !

Could not find USB driver supporting to connect the phone to a Windows 10 PC,
raised this question to UMI support but got no answer yet.
I think its necessary support requirement that a cellphone can connect to an actual PC,
so I consider if I send the phone back due to this problem.

Anyone an idea/hint where I could get supporting USB-drivers for Win10?

I could fix my PC now to support UMI Super USB datatransfer!
for others with similar issues:
needed to go to "device manager"  (my german PC "Gerätemanager"),
below portable devices see "UMI Super" in a yellow triangle to show on issue
right-click-select "properties" (xlate from my german "Eigenschaften")
- driver actualization
- select out of list of available drivers on PC  (had downloaded some from XDA-developpers)
- selected MTP-USB-Gerät (out of 3 alternatives I got offered - luck)
- ... became happy
For ref: now see the following drivers were installed:

I could connect my Super to Windows 10 but after the last update, Anniversary edition I think its callled, this is no longer possible. I believe there is a fix for this coming in the next Windows update in September?

Dear users,

It seems the problem is caused by the "Microsoft - Other hardware - MTP Device (08.16.2016)" Windows update. Maybe not on all machines but if this issue turns up, than it doesn't make sense what kind of Android MTP device you connect, no one of them can work. Hopefully Microsoft will solve this issue.

Unfortunately not but I found a solution by installing an earlier MTP driver version stored in the system. Details in the next post.

Here's a solution to install a working MTP driver under Windows 10. Tested on two different computers running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

1. Open your windows device manager.
2. Right click on the unidentified MTP device (or just Unknown device) and choose 'Update driver software'.
3. Brows my computer... --> Let me pick from a list...
4. Select Media Center Extender in the list of device types


5. There can be any number of items in the following list (depending on your specific system) but you have to select the one called simply 'MTP USB Device'. The others starting with 'MTP Device' (without 'USB') won't work.


6. Click on Next and you're done.

The details of the installed driver should be the following:
