http://forum.turkdevs.com/konu-umi-touch-v3-03-systemui-duzeltmesi.html works.

That is great! Is it just a hotfix? How did you download and install it as there is no real link on that forum... Or can you share a link?

You need TWRP, download this https://yadi.sk/d/GnKbk89vrToY3, and flash via TWRP, then it works. I would recommend doing a system backup just to be sure.

Yes as far as i know you need to unlock your bootloader to install custom recovery and that's going to wipe your system, I haven't tried anything on mine yet as it's only 24hours since i got my phone

Custom Recovery does not need full wipe. Your files and settings will stay at phone memory.

You don't need to unlock the bootloader and not even to root your phone for installing a custom recovery.
Here's a topic about that: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-2962-1-1.html
Anyway if you install this patch, you'll get a hazard warning error message at every reboot since the modified SettingsUI.apk will fail at the start up CRC.

Yeah I agree, the pop up does come up every time I boot, but it's worth it for getting rid of the G/3G/4G text.

Well, on my side I hope I never get a smartphone, that doesn't show the current type of my mobile data connection.
