On my windows 10 machine I can already connect to my current Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 smartphone using ADB. Do I have to remove or clean something (drivers/software) before connecting the Umi Emax Mini? Or is it possible to update the Qualcomm drivers with those provided in the first post of this thread? If I have to remove or clean, how do I remove current ADB and/or Qualcomm and/or fastboot drivers from Windows?

I als have a Linux Mint installation. Is it possible to use adb and fastboot on that machine also to flash TWRP on the Unrooted Umi Emax Mini? This to be able to root the phone by flashing Supersu using TWRP afterwards?

You might not need to change the driver but you'd have to just try it out.

You can also use your Linux box, there are instructions around.

This phone is/was advertised with Android 5.1 out of the box but it comes with version 5.0

When and where is the update?

Is this the official product page or somewhere else:
http://www.umidigi.com/?page-UMIEMAXmini.html

It only defines Lollipop out of the box, and there is.

It has also (but in an ambigous context) CM11 and MIUI icons at the bottom, where RootJoy is also but generally advertised.

Frankly, I don't expect Android 5.1 or 6 upgrades ever for this phone, but I'm afraid that RootJoy, CM12 or even an OTA upgrade with fixes/improvements will also never come (it's already pretty long since the phone was launched)

Did you try USBDeview:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

I've used it once on Windows 7 and I was able to clean a mess with my USB drivers, by uninstalling some old ones and installing new ones instead

They have changed the information on the product page since launch but if you look around at reviews the information is there.

When I use USBDeview I see 2 ADB related entries.

Should I remove these or can I try these with the Umi Emax Mini?

1. Uninstall and reinstall the drivers in the flashtool.
2. Use another USB port, one on the back of your PC (if you connect to a desktop PC), not a fromt panel conector.

These drivers are not provided by Qualcomm but you can make a try, of course. If they don't work, you still can install new drivers in the flashtool or even from your phone if you connect it as a CD-ROM driver - you can choose that option in the tool bar drop-down USB connection menu. First choose to uninstall drivers, then install the new ones.
