out of focus is a software issue... but if you are more hardware issues then you should send it back.. for me the only problem is the out of focus pictures
i just clean installed through spft previous 20180726 version and now i dont face out of focus captures... so i confirm that the out of focus bug caused by the new ui camera update in 20180829 version.. so i ll stay in 20180726 version till bug fixes

China was on holiday last week, so I couldn't get the flash tool version of the latest update. I'm going to share it in the upcoming days. Updating to 20180928 itself does not cause any camera focus issues. If you have such problems, try to flash this version with SPFT, then wireless update to 20180928.
The focus bug was already introduced in 20180829 new camera interface and thus continues in 20180928. Also some new bugs were introduced as can be read in the above comments.
Please have the developers fix some of these bugs or even better introduce a whole new android 9 version
Also there should be no difference in function of a version flashed via SP tool or via phone / recovery / ADB etc. The most user friendly method OTA should be preferred only for ease of use. Specific tools like SP flash tool IMHO is useful in case of brick problems or developments.
Idk how i can say this but the camera app works perfectly for me, it focuses at all ranges without any issues, and this comes from a semi pro photographer
It isn't the best camera overall but it works for a budget phone.
I'm on the latest ota update with Root and TWRP
plus if you don't like the stock camera app get Open Camera or CameraMX
