Both of the mentioned models are built with single channel LPDDR3 RAM chips (only 3-4GB) while the Plus E has dual channel LPDDR4 RAM chips (6GB). MediaTek currently cannot offer a working solution (Android 7 SDK) for this RAM configuration.

Once MediaTek will release that SDK, the Android 7.x development can be started and the upgrade will be released. Without that, we cannot start the work but only the current android version will receive updates. UMi Plus, Super and MAX has received Android 7.0 upgrades and still receive updates. Today we released the first Anodroid 7.1.1 beta for UMi Z, so it's not about the lazyness of our developers.

I understand of course, and feel really sorry for this situation. You can imagine that, this model could achieve much higher sales with Android 7 out of the box or a downloadable upgrade, so beyond the expectations and reliability, that's even UMIDIGI's pure interest to release that upgrade as soon as possible... if possible.

Will there be any updates/fixes for the low sound on calls for this phone?

Myself and many others from the forum are experiencing very low sound from callers on normal and voip (skype).

On my Galaxy and iPhone I hear callers loud and clear and sometimes even have to turn the volume down.
On the Umi Plus E I have all volumes up full (including Engineer Mode) yet the incoming callers are very low, even in headphones, same ones I use on my other phone.

Is there some engineering mode option that can be tweaked?

I have set the Volume, Voice & Audio Playback and VoIP values to UL gain 252 for all.
Also set Index 6 to 160 for all.

Although the 160 has made it a little bit louder, it still is no match for Galaxy and iPhone levels

So next would be speech Enhancement:
Can someone explain perhaps what the level is for Skype?
Someone said it is level 4 index values that should be changed for that?
And what should the index settings be tweaked to for louder calls?

Has anyone managed to get nice clear and loud volumes on this phone and if so, can you please share your settings.

Will a future update/rom fix the low volume issues a lot of owners are experiencing?

To be honest, when I purchase a phone, I should not have to be fiddling in any engineer mode to adjust things and "guess" what might work.

Explanations of the index values would be nice.

i.e. Again, someone said index 6 is for bass settings?

Which one helps volumes??

Many thanks.

OK the issue on the Umi Plus E is basically, the incoming calls, for both normal phone calls and Skype are VERY low on the speaker and headphones.

A LOT lower than my iPhone and Galaxy are.

I can hear people normally on those and very loud. In fact, I sometimes need to turn the volume down. And that is with no tweaks to any sound settings.

Thanks Steal for the link above, Google translation kinda helped with it, but as I mentioned, I have already set the volumes to 160.

I have already changed:
Audio/Volume/Voice: Index 6 = 160 for receiver, HAC, Headset, Headphone, Speaker
-What UL gain values is best for each? What does UL Gain actually do?
-And what is HAC short for?

Next VoIP. As above set Index 6 to 160 for all.
-Again, what is the best UL Gain for each?

Next Audio/Volume/Audio Playback. PGA = 160 for 3/4 headset & headset & speaker. Which is easy enough to work out.

And onto:

Audio/Speech Enhancement:

Common Parameter I have altered nothing for the indexes as I have no idea what Common parameter even is?
-Anyone know what this is?

NB/WB I know each need to be the same. Change one, do same to the other....

Handset. HAC,  3_pole_headset, 4_pole_Headset

Since I use a headset mainly with mic, that would be '4_pole_Headset' I should be changing, '3_pole' being normal headphones with no mic.

In the 4_pole there are Level 0 to Level 6 each with indexes 0 to 47

These are the ones I am trying to find out which index changes what sound quality/level.

Some say indexes 5, 6, 7 and 21 should be changed. But no explanation of what they actually change.

Also, some state the actual levels reflect different things, such as Level 3 is for calls and Level 4 is used by apps. I do not know if that is true or not?

I do not want to change anything in the indexes until I know what it is I am actually changing.

It is fine for someone to say, "change index 6 from 400 to 0". But with no explanation to what it actually changes, how will I know if it actually helps?

Also, do I need to do this for Level 0 to Level 6 or just level 3 and Level 4 since they (apparently) deal with calls.

If anyone can shed some light on the indexes and what they do, I would appreciate it.

I am just looking for some kind of definitive answer to the "best" settings for all Engineer mode settings.

And I would still like to know if any rom updates will address the low call volume issues of the Umi Plus E in the future?

Right now, the phone is just a nice little tablet, useless for any kind of calls.

Thanks
