UMI Rome X issues

"Apps that are meant to run at startup don't.
For example, I installed GSam Battery Monitor - when running, this app has a permanent notification showing the battery percentage.
If I reboot the phone, this notification does not appear - until I run the app.
This also affects updating widgets (like the Weather & Clock widget from devexpert) and receiving notifications from PayPal, eBay etc...
It may even have contributed to a few SMS messages being lost, although I can't be sure about that.

Secondly, background services do not run correctly.
Taking GSam Battery Monitor as an example again - when you run the app the notification appears.
If you then swipe right on the list of running tasks, the app if killed - along with the notification!
This is not normal Android behaviour."

PLEASE, we need this fixed!

You can expect a Rootjoy update and if that's possible, I always get and share the flash tool version. You can't expect an OTA update.
Nowadays I hardly can communicate with UMI (rare and short-spoken responses) because my primary contact person resigned from the company last week. I'm trying to do my best to help you. Since this is an issue to be resolved, not a planned development, a specified deadline is not available.

Yes, I understood this issue and reported it as you stated. Neither I have met a such problem with an Android device before.

Hello,

I reported this issue to UMI yesterday. Hopefully they will find a solution asap. Without a such phone in hand I can't check it and find a possible solution by my own.

I sincerely hope that UMI do fix the problem, because with fully working software I think it will represent excellent value for money. I like the hardware, it feels well put together. I would recommend it to friends and family. But until it is fixed, all I can do is warn people not to touch it with a very long pole!

Hi,

Is this problem happening with all applications?

For example, are you using gmail, whatsapp.... These applications are working fine in background mode?

I think it happens with all applications - unless an app has been started by the user and left running, notifications from apps like PayPal, eBay, WhatsApp etc. do not come through. If the user swipes to close the app, all background services associated with that app are also closed down.

I hope your word carries more weight with UMI - their response to me was that is was an Android problem, which it clearly isn't.

Hi,

Is this problem happening with all applications?

That is happening with all apps.

We cannot get any notifications at all, unless we leave all the apps open in the phone.

Apps such as Whatsapp, Viber, Gmail, and so on, none of their notifications work.

It can be very frustrating nowadays when we solely rely in apps to get phone calls, messages, emails or any other sort of notifications and they do not work because of the phone you have chosen.

This is clearly not an Android normal software behavior.

I strongly believe that this was an accidental bug developed by UMI when adjusting their software to their UMI Rome X phones, which can easily be fixed by them.

We just need UMI to look into that and fix it URGENTLY, either with an OTA update or through their Rootjoy tool.

We are all still waiting for a resolution.

No one comes forward to let us know anything.

How long is going to still take UMI, to come forward and fix this issue for us?

I will let you know it immediately if I get known something. The needed time depends on the deepness of the issue.
