Hi,

I'm using the phone for about 2 weeks now and suddenly the screen isn't working anymore.
When i push the on/off button the backlight goes on but no image appears, i have to take the battery out and restart the phone.
After restart the screen is working again until i hit the on/off button again.
I did try to reset the phone to factory defaults but also not working, even during reset the screen went off and won't turn on again.
When the phone is connected to the pc with rootjoy i can see the screen is on, but not on the phone itself. Even the touchscreen is still working.
I can't flash a newer rom with rootjoy because the program says it's the Umi Zero phone.

Can someone help me please?

hi,

On Rootjoy, when you select download rom, you can choose which phone is the ROM that you want to download. By defect, appears UMI Zero but you can open on there is UMI Zero and choose UMI Rome.

After download, then you can flash without problems your phone.

I suggest to you to flash to v3.03 and check if problem is solved

Unfortunately this isn't working also.
Now the screen isn't working at all anymore, even by removing the battery.
Looks like a mallfunction of the screen or it's connections.
Backlight does turn on but no image appears, touchscreen is still working.

Because i've installed the newest rom i've to allow usb-debugging again to connect is to rootjoy, but i can't see where to push the screen to allow.

This is getting very annoing and i'm very disappointed at the moment.

Maybe just the motherboard connector of the LCD screen is just loose. Your phone should be disassembled to check that connector and reconnect it if needed.

Why should i disassemble a brand new phone, that's just rediculous. Nothing happend with the phone and suddenly the screen doesn't work anymore, why should a connector got loose. If the phone is dropped on the floor a connector can got loose. If an connector is loose, why did the screen worked again when removing the battery? It's just an mallfunction of the screen and that's not acceptable for an phone that's beeing used for a month.
How about the warranty?

I think I have identified a work around for this problem;

So my problem was that the screen went black on some occasion. The touch panel still works you can hear the sound from pressing on things you cant see. Solution was to remove the battery and do a reboot.

Then I mentioned that thing only occurs when I adjust my screen brightness manually and I have the auto brightness on. I deselected the auto brightness from the menu and the problem is solved. But when I turn on auto screen brightness this issue reoccurs. This is my best work around for now.

If the malfunction of the auto brightness control causes the problem, your screen should work properly until the Android system boots up. So GewoonGeil's issue might have a different reason.
Even if you handled your phone carefully, you can't know what had happened to it before you got it. If a such connector is loose (the contact is not completely loss), that's possible, restarting your phone temporarily solves the problem. That statement is based on experience. Anyway, this possible issue was just an idea without examining the specific device. I just said what should be done with your phone, not that you should do it. You can validate your warranty at your reseller, who sent you your phone.

The phone has beeing checked at my local repairshop and they think the display or the driver is broken. Unfortinaly they can't find the replacement equipment to repair it.
So i'm completly stuck right now with a crappy phone.

I'm very disappoited at the moment about this phone and about umi.
