Edited by reboxyde at 2016-1-12 14:16 \n\nHello,

I just got my UMI Rome and among the other problems it have with the low sensitivity display and poor batterry I see that the light \ proximity sensor it's not working at all. Even I turned on the adaptive light, nothing happen. Moreover, when I make calls the display go dark and only when I push Home button I can see what is on display, but after that the display remains on even I put it near my ear. So proximity sensor is not working as well. Does anyone have the same problem? Any way to fix this problem?
I is strange that no UMI official respond to our complains or to give solutions. I thought this is a serious brand...

UMI is working in order to fix these problems. On new v3.03, touchscreen sensitives has been accurated.

Is true that devices must be tested before launch and UMI is working to be better on this. About proximity sensor, I'm testing problem in order to see if is a common problem

About proximity sensor, it seems to be a manufacture issue. I have noticed that the sensor is working but it is always covered by the glass, it is not located exactely under the transparent hole on the glass, it is situated a bit on the right  that's why it's not working. Umi, verify the construction of this phone !

My sensor does not work at all. I have the official ROME cover and closing it does not turn the screen off. I have to physically turn off the screen otherwise it will stay on and apps can be clicked on by mistake. Not impressed with the phone. Was not ready to be shipped.

@ Unlord, I managed to fix the proximity sensor.
UMI, open your eyes to all this problems and complains if you want to exist anymore !

I have dissasembled the phone and under the main (upper) board it is an other little board where is located the light and proximity sensor. That is locked by 1 or 2 screws, I don't remember exactely. So I unscrewed the screws and I moved a little bit the board. I did that 2 times with no sucess, and the 3rd time when I was about to give up, I saw that I have fixed it and the sensor is working well. It is not located exactely under the transparent hole or the little piece of rubber is obturating it (I tried to remove the rubber but no sucess) so now the proximity sensor is now working normally. This is a construction issue. Be careful, you can't move it too much because a piece of metal is blocking the little board. Also take care not to break the tiny display chip, you have to remove it's connector to be able to get to the sensors board. I should have made a video but unfortunately I did not. I have fixed it late in the night right before to go to sleep so I was tired as well. Hope this help everybody has the same issue with the sensor.

If I have to take apart my phone to fix the proximity sensor then the product is defective and should be recalled.
