Has anyone had to return their phone to the seller (China) for repair or swap?

I think I will have to due to my display issues (stripes) but that would mean that I would be months without a phone

Wish it was easier.

It depends where you live, and if you paid extra insurance and the seller.

I'm in the UK and bought it from coolicool. I still have warranty but I just don't want to be months without a phone. From the time I send it back to the time I might have a replacement in my hands this could be 3 months or more (I guess they would ship it back by cheapest option, 50 days shipping)

So I bought the phone from Coolicool and they now said that I will have to pay for the postage for me to send it back to them AND for the postage for them to post a replacement/repaired phone! My phone is still under warranty, surely all of the postages should be covered by Coolicool or UMI themselves!? I am not happy about this. I will think twice now before buying anything from coolicool or UMI again Why do I have to pay for everything when the phone developped a fault that is nothing to do with me?

Edited by Dudulle at 2017-7-20 15:52 \n\nwell its easy to understand, unfortunately.
Retailer states its none of their responsibility, as they only sell what's supplied. Thus they are not covering those kind of expenses.
Umidigi will say they did not sell the device thus they can't refund you anything. (Why do you think umi does not sell anything directly but uses retailers instead ? no responsibility for stuff sold...).

Buying chinese stuff from a chinese online retailer is much cheaper, usually. As long as everything goes straight.
As soon as issues are showing up, then you realize that paying the extra coin may save you some pain...

In your case you will even have to pay shipping costs. If you had bought at the official UMI store and you had paid a further $ 10 insurance, you would not pay anything and only your phone back in 20 days. Well, if the UMI is serious, because until now it was not, she sold cat by hare with this equipment.

The phone wasn't available through the website, I tried to buy it "directly" from them!

So now I paid 300 Dollars for a phone that broke after not even 6 months and I am expected to pay another 50 Dollars to get it fixed? How is that fair?

it's not...
When you buy something online, and particularly chinese stuff, it's a bit of a lotery.
Every one of us who gave a try at Plus E and UMI in general knows wht it is.Cheers or tears. Bargain or scam.

More generally speaking, and quite frankly, there is no miracle. Some devices or stuff are overpriced due to their brand or company (biggest south Koream phone maker...famous american phone and electronical appliance maker...). Some companies or brands are asking a fair price for their stuff, related to its quality and/or service delivered. But when price asked is much lower than the average for so-called or claimed quality or specs, then there must be something hidden.
