Hi,

If the opportunity arises, could you ask the Umi team to upload a video showing the Umi Z teardown?
Just like the video of the Umi Plus.

Thank you.

Hi,
Basically only the first steps are different since the back case of UMi Z is made of one piece of aluminum.
First remove the SIM tray and the 2 screws next to the USB-C port, then you need to firmly hold the case housing with one hand and pull off the screen at a bottom corner using a suction cup. The whole internal content will come off with the screen, the case housing holds only the side buttons, so be careful to avoid losing them.

Ok, did this and then? There is no tutorial how to get the screen out of its case? I mean, you have to unscrew all the inner parts and then what?

Like bencebacsi wrote, remove sim tray, remove the two screws next to USB-C with Pentalobe P2 Screwdriver.
Use suction cup to remove display including all electronic from back cover. Take care that you do not lose power button & volume buttons which are left in the back cover.
Put phone on the table remove the 3 screws of the metal bracket right above the battery. At this time latest you will void warranty, since there is a sticker over one of the screws.
Remove the bracket, disconnect battery from PCB.
Use a small blade to remove the battery (battery is fixed with sticky tape).
Even video is not the best, you can see the steps in this video which I found on youtube.

Hi,
maybe it helps.
point 5: it helps to bent very slightly the phone, the display pops off..
after disconnecting the battery: you can tak off batter, this is fixed with some gluestripes, be carefully..

when assembling back: follow steps backwards.
carefully insert the display, because the buttons are not fixed on the cover.. that is a little bit tricky..
good luck..
If it is failing, i'm not responsible for it.. :-)
