Actually had exactly that problem yesterday. After disabling wifi for a while, it refused to turn on. For a brief moment I could see the wifi access points, but then it switched itself off again. Several reboots later, and still no wifi, I flashed latest ROM again and now all is fine.

Ah, exactly the same thing... I can see briefly the wifi hotspot opened but not possible to keep the button "on".
Ok, so, i will re instal the ROM...

I had the same issue and but playing with some settings such as "Keeping WIFI connected during suspend mode" and turned off other two (I recall that they were related with WiFI search) have solved the issue. Sorry do not be much more helpful

Happened to me too. This my backup phone and so the sim I'm using have very limited data. So I noticed it too late but luckily it was a small file. I tried rebooting, soft reboot and shutdown. Didn't work. I thought it may be GravityBox but I eliminated that option by going into the settings app.
What did work was in the settings app, I just kept tapping the button until it stays on. Because I noticed every time I hit it, the local connections would pop up. This a software bug basically.

It happened to me again. This time, I tried Reset network settings under Backup and reset (not sure if that's the exact labels in English version, as I have another language setting but it should be in the neighbourhood) - And that worked fine for me. WiFi came back on.
