What is absolutely normal if you fast charging and playing at the same time since serious electric power is going in and out simultanously. Hope, the simple phisics is not really shameful for you.

Your Bluboo Maya has the (currently) lowest performance MTK processor and no fast charging, so you couldn't mention a worse counter example. The metallic case of the UMi Plus helps to dissipate the internal heat but as a result, you can persieve it with your hands, of course. You still think that, the simple phsics is shameful or just speak without wider experience with higher performance, metallic case smartphones.

Hello Bencebacsi,

Blubloo Maya Max uses Same Aluminium alloy as UmiPlus and even though it uses lowest performance MTK Processor (MT6750) i didnt see any lag in performance while playing games or phone gets heated while charging or playing games which is my point of view as a customer. For your kind information Bluboo Maya Max has fast charging. I am not comparing phones out and out and i gave just an example.

As a customer i can compare the performance and whats happening not to the very minute level like processors. I have never heard that any metallic phones which is called as flagships getting heated while charging or playing games.

Well, mate it is actually real simple.

Heat is energy, if the phone is using much energy in a short period of time because of hardware intensive game then the battery level will drop significantly and the phone will heat up, all the power missing from battery is now heat.

The thing is that the more a phone feels hot on the outside the better for it, otherwise heat remains inside and protective circuits kick in aka thermal throttling. On the other hand, it feels annoying to touch warm phone, it is good for the phone's health though.

Same thing about fast charging, not if specs mention it, but if it is actually in use in real charging time, that means multi voltage charger which varies depending on battery charge level. All this is in order to push energy into battery faster than the battery itself want to take it, because we are in a hurry etc. And this creates heat. If the phone is made in a way to conduct heat to the outside, then it will heat up a bit, not as much as playing hardware intensive game though.

Anyway, about flagships and such, like snapdragon 8xx kind, they all heat up it you push them, they all employ thermal throttling as protection from heat, nothing can be done about that because it's just powerful circuits in a fan-less design in constricted space so what can you do with heat? Drive it slowly outwards, that's all.

Dear Fyodor,

You can give all this explanation which is logical but the problem comes when you get a call while playing or charging phone you can feel the heat on your ears and palms which is the problem (phone gets heated near the flashlight and not near the battery) which is annoying.

As i mentioned earlier phones with lower processor and quick charging are not getting heated and i think Umi should have taken care of this.

Yea, the phone gets hot where the electronics are, the battery charge control circuit etc. Around the camera, lights area, where the phone's mainboard is.

UMi published a teardown video, in that video there seems to be a metal plate inside the back cover at that specific spot, this is to disperse heat along with the whole of the back cover metal.

I am afraid there is no solution to this, a less powerful phone might not heat at all or heat less, but consumers always want more powerful and faster device.

For comparison, check Sony Xperia Z3 (look at teardown pics / videos), this one even employs a heatpipe inside the phone, much like desktop / laptop cpu coolers do, to carry heat to the surface, which is then felt by the person using the phone, still it is the best they can do.
