Hi All,
I'm stuck.  GPS on my Rome X has never been great, but it has been usable until recently.
For the last few days, it has been unable to get a fix. At this moment, it is showing 14 satellites in view, 0 used.
I am also having an issue with battery status.
I use my phone as a phone - I don't use it for games, social media, movies/tv... etc., so battery life is pretty good - several days, however, the battery status meter is useless.
Instead of showing a gradual decline, it can take 3 or 4 days to drop to around 75%, then less than 1 hour to drop from 75% to 0.
This caught me out a few times. I was looking for rogue apps eating the battery at first, but finally realised the status was lying.
I followed a few internet guides to recalibrate the battery, but found no apreciable change in behaviour.

I am trained now to treat 75% as zero, but I have not seen any other reports of this problem.

I decided to look for an update, and found 3.05 available (I'm on 3.02) so tried FOTA... failed.
"Your system was damaged, wireless update disabled!"
Cleared relevant cache and data, and tried again.
The update was downloaded again then...
"Your system was damaged, wireless update disabled!"
Did some googling - read that FOTA doesn't like rooted devices. The phone was bought new in April, and I haven't rooted it.
Maybe it came rooted from the supplier, I checked. Tried to install su - failed needs root. Installed a root checker - "sorry, your device is not rooted"
Root seems not to have been the issue.
Installed rootjoy, (Windows 10 anniversary upgrade 64bit) backed up everything on the phone then clicked the Flash button to see what options are available
"Sorry your device is un-supported now."

Errr what does now mean? That it has become unsupported? That it will soon be supported?

About phone says:

ROME_X
Android 5.1
Kernel 3.10.72+
Build UMI ROME X.V3.02_20160120

Seems like the only thing left is to go back to factory default, which I am loathe to do. I am bound to lose something and waste a lot of time. It may not even fix the problem, and if it did is 3.05 any better? I have read that GPS is worse under 3.05.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Thanks

Eric

P.S. GPS now 12 in view, 0 in use. TTF is 3277s and counting, and it doesn't improve sitting in the middle of a open field or on the beach.
