If you touch the notification it will take you to a screen where you can "disable" the service, what will, in turn, make the notification disappear. The reason I use quotation marks is because the service isn't really disabled, it is still running in the background. Admittedly, I didn't extensively test this. I simply installed and ran an app with the feature disabled, then proceeded to uninstall the app and do the same thing with the feature enabled. In both cases, when I ran the app I was asked whether to allow or deny the app's access to location services. I am unsure as to the purpose of this feature other than being able to manage, in one place, every service that your apps have access to. In any case, disabling (more like hiding) this feature does not, I repeat, does not appear to disable app permissions.
If anyone would like to do more extensive testing, I'd ask them to post their results here to see if this is indeed the case. |
