Rooting is not a problem (except that Update complains that updating won't be possible because the phone was rooted - but there is no ROM update anyway), but rooting does not reveal additional languages.

The content of the framework-res.apk file limits the chooseable languages, however most of the system apps contains much more languages. With the Language and Locale Set app you can set any languages. That doesn't add new language resources to your phone, but at least those apps that already contains the chosen language will display that.

Most of the locale change apps need the device to be rooted. I just were wondering is there any way of getting the normal Lollipop provided languages visible? Or should I root+ do something to that framework-res.apk file? Or just go with CM 12.1?

No other ways without root, but a new ROM version has been released with more languages.

Hi all,

I know this thread is months old so kind of hoping that 5.1 is now available on the eMax Mini? Anyone have any info on this now?

Thanks :-)
