Dear sam1220,

That letter 'E' just means that, your current area is not covered by 3G services. 'E' stands for 'Edge' what is the highest speed 2G data service.
The issue of sending/receiving calls might be caused by an app running in the background. First I suggest you to make a factory data reset in the settings menu.

Do you use a cut-to-size micro SIM card or an original one? Could you try with another SIM card?

Can someone help.  Today I also noticed no network connection and yet my colleagues on ghe same carrier could connect to the network and receive calls.

I thinl the problem js a hardware problem, possibly ghe antenna.  Does anyone have a similar problem and a fix

You said today. Do you mean earlier you had no such problems? If that's the case, then that's probably not a hardware issue... except if you dropped your phone.

Hi Ben

the problem has been ongoing for some time as reported, apologies for the poor grammar.  What I noticed was that whilst my phone was not able to make or receive phone calls other colleagues immediately next to me could.  That led me to think its not a network problem.

BTW I have not dropped my phone.

Hi Sam,

I'm afraid, your issue won't be discovered here, online. That can be caused by unstable voltage inside the circuits or a bad antenna connection as you mentioned or anything other. You'll need a skilled repairman to check it and he still wouldn't surely be successful.
