I suppose you are aware that if the card was formatted for adaptive storage, it is in ext4 while for use as external memory it is (usually already pre formatted) in exFAT format. Hence the "corrupted" warning because Windows can't read ext formats, and I think neither can it format it to ext4.
Also, the same card cannot be read by another phone because it becomes sort of "dedicated" to the device it was configured originally. If the card is removed, some apps may not run properly. The card would need to be re-formatted as external storage before it can be re-used (data stored here would also be lost).
But what was shown on your screen shot is indeed weird.
Still waiting for my Z Pro to arrive to try out the adaptive storage as my other phones had it blocked when upgrading to M.
