This is the SP Flash Tool release of the

V3.01_20170116 firmware

for UMI Z

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!

UMI Z receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

ROM: 20170116_g15v97_kw_u8_4m.rar - Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6797_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other elements

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMI Z if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMI Z to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

I don't know if this is the right place to post but concerning the volume adjustment, I find that the speaker is still "very loud" even at minimum volume and from what I read/watched in most of reviews, that something most of people are concerned about.

Would it be possible to "fix" that and make the sound of the speaker lower when you are at minimum volume ? Then you can watch a video discreetly (at work, at nights or whatever)

Hi,

Please follow the instruction below.

1. Open the dialer and type *#*#3646633#*#* to start the EngineerMode

2. Scroll right to the Hardware Testing page and select Audio → Volume → Audio Playback

3. Select System in the first drop-down list and Speaker in the second one

4. Set Index 1 to a much lower value, 20 for example (the original value should be 88)

  It’s worth the time to create a balanced setup of the available volume levels, so as the Index values follow each other, set up something like 20, 44, 78, 114, then for Index 5 you may leave the original value of 136.

5. When you finished, scroll down, tap on the Set button at the bottom of the screen and your settings will take effect immediately.

  These changes will be effective until you perform a factory data reset, so simply rebooting your phone won’t make them lost.

Thank you very much, that worked very well !

Actually I had to choose "Music" over "System" because System apparently didn't change the sound of the videos, which makes sense I guess. I guess "System" is for the system sounds and "Music" music, videos, games, etc.

You are welcome. Settings of the System also take effect on Music parameters, so theoretically (and according to my earlier tests) it should've worked.

Are there are any problems with the rear-focusing camera? Indeed Umi plus E has better sharpness ..

You are right...UMI Z have a bad camera...my UMI Zero is better and it is 2 years elder than Z
