Hello,
i hope someone can help me.

I used my Umi Rome for several months without problems, but lately it has stopped working normally:

- the telephone turns off when the battery is lower than 15-20%
- the touch screen fails sometimes, it "feels" that i press an area, but i'm pressing another
- last morning i received a call and it turned off automatically
- after, it didnt restart and didn't even charge
- i removed the battery, reinserted it and started the phone
- i noticed that the power button is malfunctioning, i need to press it several times before it works and unlocks the screen
- now the power button is completely dead, the phone is turned off and there is no way to turn it on

the site where i purchased it says that they can take minimum 15 days maximum 120 days for the warranty repair, but what am i supposed to do if they keep it for 6 months?
there is no other way to fix it? i'd better buy another phone and drop this Uni piece of sxxx from the window?

thank you in advance for the answers

NO! don't drop it out the window! Send it back!

If you don't send it back UMI will assume they are building a perfect product.

Send it back and use the phone you used before you bought your UMI. Or if you dropped that out the window buy another phone -  an Xiaomi.

When you buy cheap/new technology you NEED a backup.

But DON"T drop it out the window - send it back! And if it fails again - send it back - again!

There is no limit to the number of times you can send it back within the 12 months of warranty.

The more phones that are sent back the better. Eventually UMI will learn to build a better product!

No one is going to step in and help you. Most people who have bought a Rome have sent them back to UMI to be trashed and moved on to another brand of phone. UMI don't really care, once they have sold you a phone they just sit back and laugh.

Edited by skinny at 2017-1-29 07:52 \n\n- the telephone turns off when the battery is lower than 15-20%

My phone started turning off at around 90%. I'd fully charged the phone then make a call only to be disconnected due to the phone turning itself off after around 5 minutes.

- the touch screen fails sometimes, it "feels" that i press an area, but i'm pressing another

I'm having exactly the same problem. if you go to youtube.com and search for UMI screen problem you find a video on an app you can download to solve the problem. The problem is the app doesn't completely resolve the problem. It'd be impossible to write anything as you press on one letter and the editor brings up another letter.

- last morning i received a call and it turned off automatically

Welcome to the world of UMI phones. This happens to all UMI phones (not just Rome) Read through the posts on other UMI phones and they all have the same problem. UMI engineers are busy designing a pretty and fashionable new phone to suit young womens handbags and jewelery. It doesn't matter to them that the phone don't work after 6 months.

- after, it didnt restart and didn't even charge

Same with my UMI Rome, instead of charging, the battery expanded to about 4 times its normal size and pushed the back cover off the phone. The batter now refuses to charge and the phone won't start.

- i removed the battery, reinserted it and started the phone

Eventually it will stop working as the battery will expand and possibly explode. Warning: Do not take a UMI phone on an airplane - the battery may explode!

- i noticed that the power button is malfunctioning, i need to press it several times before it works and unlocks the screen

Same with mine - that was back in the first few months of owning the phone when it actually started.

- now the power button is completely dead, the phone is turned off and there is no way to turn it on

You are really luck. Now you will leave the phone at home or send it back to UMI. You will now not put yourself at risk of the phone exploding while on a bus or even worse an airplane.
I WARN YOU AGAIN  - DON'T TAKE THESE PHONES ON BOARD AN AIRPLANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
