Hi, I'm thinking of buying Umi Super, but I'm wondering whether there're any problems with it?. I'm also thinking about buying Umi Max, but I heard they're lots of problems like GPS connectivity and phone not working after two months.

I am a umi super owner and I am very disappointed about it. For example, if you use another camera app (retrica, fv5, silent camera etc...) the exposure doesn't works, so you can't use those apps the most of time...  The "magic focus" function advertised on the official page doesn't exists... Some functions in the app "fotor" doesn't works... The customer service never answers, it's a shame...  If you clean your screen with a tissue and alcool, the screen becomes crazy for hours...  Image quality is poor compared to other chinese brands (huawei, letv...)  Sound is poor (but you can enhance it by changing settings in the engineering mode)...  This is my first and my last phone from this brand!

I purchased my UMi Super from Aliexpress.  I am in Australia and it took about 3 to 4 weeks for the phone to arrive.  My experience has been very positive.  I like the design and the build quality.  Stock AOSP android is good (no bloatware), although I have customised with launcher & icons.
It is true that the phone does not live up to the promotional descriptions from UMi.  The camera software fails the hardware & internal speaker is nothing special (audio through headphones is pretty good).
I have not experienced problems with gps, wifi or any other major issues other users have suffered.  Reading the comments on this site would lead many people to think this device is no good.  Buying this phone maybe like buying a lottery ticket, so be aware that there is no garrantee you will be lucky and receive a good one like me.

The things I like about the device are:
Price, build quality, design, stock ASOP ROM, battery (fast charging & long lasting), Harlequin LED notification & fingerprint reader.
I don't use 'Battery saving mode' very much but the one feature I use alot is turning on 'Gray Interface'.  It is the little things that are the coolest sometimes.

Based on my experience I would recommend you seriously consider this phone but be aware that you might buy a dud.  I don't like wasting money, but I am happy that I took a chance & bought this phone.  After the exchange rate it cost me less than $250 AUD.

Goodluck with your decision friend!

I have had this phone for 2 months now, I'm also in Australia, not sure I would recommend it, two annoying problems I have, (1) wifi cuts in and out every few seconds, (2) when I put the phone to my ear, the screen cuts out as it should, but then reactivates a second later causing my ear to hit the mute button, very annoying, I have to hold the phone away from my face to use it, shame, as other than that, I like it.

My final verdict after 30 day usage of umi super
Pros:
1. Specs
2. Build and flagship features
3. Battery life
4. Software

Cons:
1. Camera quality
2. Weak Wifi/Bluetooth/GSM/GPS signals
3. Audio quality

Umi super will blow you away with bang for your buck specs and superb design and features. However, it is really frustrating that the basic smartphone functions are not polished or should I say, below average.

Wifi signal is weak
Bluetooth signal is weak
GSM signal is weak
GPS signal is inaccurate and really bad
Audio output is so weak
Camera and video quality in lowlight is very bad

These are common problems on umi super phones. My verdict is based on comparisons from other midrange smartphones I've tried such as Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy W, Alcatel Flash Plus & Flash Plus 2. It is disappointing that the basic functions are below average. This is the weakest smartphone I've tried when it comes to wifi/bluetooth/gsm/GPS/audio. I can live by the bad camera but the others are a big no no. I have been requesting for a software fix for these to Umiofficial but they suggest mine is an isolated case. But I know that it is not. Still hoping that they do something about these. Umi super is such a promising phone but UMI should ensure that the basic functions are solid and average at best.
