Has anyone got this working on the umi super? i just rooted my phone finally and installed adfree and it requested root access which i granted but it just sits there saying "please wait while i determine if the local hosts file is up to date"

Iv been using adfree since i can remember probably when i had my original htc g1 and it has always ...

Well it used to be the go to because it was 1 of a kind. Then AdAway came along. Btw it's default setup is open app, press install hosts files, close app. Your done, that's it. All other things are optional like selection/addition of host sources. More importantly being able to add whitelist, blacklist, auto updates, IPv6 and other options are just that optional (tucked away). Its also the only method custom Rom makers use because it's 100% safe.
All I'm saying is it has its little benefits but a big security benefit that matters. Up to U, can't teach an old dog new tricks but I do help the community when I can since I'm an avid user/consumer of the aftermarket development.

U should use AdAway. It's a better option.

Well this a manner of opinion but AdAway has the added benefit of being open source. It also hasn't failed me in half a decade. The added benefit of being able to look at the code, see exactly what an App is doing that's  accessing system files is why the bulk of the community moved away from AdFree years ago. Haven't used AdFree in years but it's gives you complete control over what it's doing and automated settings.
Again it's up to U but idk what ads look like anymore after all these years.

Iv been using adfree since i can remember probably when i had my original htc g1 and it has always been effective, it doesnt have a ton of settings it just adds a hosts file probably exactly the same as adaway and then thats its you dont mess with it again and its always blocked everything so no complaints. Anything more complicated than that seems entirely unneccersary to me.
