Edited by anakin1981 at 2016-6-3 16:14 \n\nWhen the phone is unlocked I noticed that if I touch central home button (without press it), it automatically opens Menu option (same behaviour as left button).
In order to preserve home button, I think it would be better to assign the long pressing behaviour (multitask option) to this single touch. So, with this method, the Home button will be rarely pressed, extending its lifetime.

Dear anakin,

It could be a good idea and seems to be feasible. However, the local menu pops up just in a few apps when the home button is touched but if it worked as a multitask caller, that would always open the multitask manager everywhere, even if your goal is to press the home button to go to the default home screen. I'm afraid, many users would be annoyed. Maybe it could work with some delay programmed. In my opinion the best way would be your suggestion but in a reversed order: touching the home button brings home and pressing it calls the multitask manager.

Regards,
Bence

Edited by anakin1981 at 2016-6-3 16:11 \n\nYes, you are absolutely right. I didn't realized just that.
But if possible, the single touch could bring home and long touch could open the multitask, so, in this way, it wouldn't be neccesary to press the button. All of this, always bearing in mind that this implementation will not interfere with apps that could use fingerprint sensor, like Play Store, and always with the phone unlocked.

On the other hand, I have some folders on the home screen, and it's very difficult to see the names of the apps inside them. As you can see in this picture, the font color used is gray and the background folder is transparent. It's very annoying.

In the next update: could you put a dark background on the folder and change the font color to white?

Thanks and congratulations for this great terminal.

Regards.

When i was thinking about home button lifetime extension i came across an idea:

has anyone tried on of those smart button keys for 3.5mm jack?

It looks like this, and you can program diffrent actions with it.
I've already ordered some, they are really cheap. Will figure out sooooon.

The stock launcher (Launcher3) is an AOSP app that won't be updated by UMI developers. The only thing that they can process is to put a newer version (if exists) in a next update but they won't make changes on it.
However, there are plenty of downloadable Launchers available in Google Play Store with much more features than the stock Launcher has. So that seems to be a better idea to replace your stock launcher by a third party one.
Here's a screenshot of Holo Launcher as it handles shortcut folders on a UMI Touch.
