Unlock UMi Touch Bootloader

Is it possible to unlock the UMi Touch bootloader with `fastboot oem unlock`? When I try it fails stating

1. (bootloader) Start unlock flow
   
2. 
   
3. FAILED (remote:
   
4. Unlock operation is not allowed
   
5. )

Copy the Code

Then the bootloader crashes and is unresponsive to any `fastboot` commands. I can only recover the phone by turning it off with the Power Button and Vol Up and Down buttons.

Thanks. I completely overlooked that option.

Why will unlocking the bootloader brick the phone? Are you saying UMi have intentionally developed software that bricks the phone once you unlock the bootloader?

Dear IKavanagh,

First you have to enable OEM unlocking in the Developer options.



However, I don't recommend to unlock the bootloader since that will brick your phone.

No, UMi has done nothing about this. That's not officially supported to unlock the bootloader. Processing that may void the warranty.
