Hi i Received my Umi Touch 3 days ago. It's real fantastic and my model haven't any problem in those days on the app use or navigation, but there is a real problem if i use it for more than 2-3 mins the top of the phone start to be really warm, till to become overheat. I want know if it's bettere send back and change the phone or w8 for new update that can solve this overheating ( if it can help it go overheat also without sim/memory card inserted, i tested it,), that probably is a Kernel problem.

Very great! At peak points it even would be allowed to hit the 100 °C for very short times. If the maximum was 71 °C in your device, then your phone has absolutely no over heating issues. Of course, you can write here anything.
I've attached a screenshot showing a peak point of a UMI eMax. That phone has been in hard use for 10 months already, without any issues.

Dear peppino29,

The metallic back cover of UMI Touch can lead out more heat of the processor to its surface than a common plastic case, making it feel hotter. However, this is not an issue. The processor itself has a built-in heat protection, so if that really gets over heated, its internal controller will reduce the clock frequency or completely powers off the CPU. If you don't experience any malfunction in the working of your phone, then you can just forget about this case as an issue. No other users reported a such problem until now but I recommend you to install the latest FOTA update via 'Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update' if you haven't done it yet.

Regards,
Bence

There is an over-heat issue with this phone. I have it for one week and it's not a good phone. Yesterday, use Waze for 30 minutes and itc shut down because of the phone was overheating. I have never ever since that on any phone.  It's not normal that a phone should over heat because of the GPS application like Waze.  This is a BIG BUG with this phone.

Dear AlainWinP2075,

Not even running 3G games for hours makes the CPU of this phone overheated. That was tested many times.
Maybe your phone was put into direct sunlight or your device has a specific issue. That should be verified whether your phone really shut down due to overheating or that was caused by another reason. Only the conjunction of a hot back cover (that's normal anyway at any smartphones powered by an octa core CPU) and the shut down doesn't make an evidence. I suggest you to test your phone with performance games in a room, not under direct sunlight. If the problem still persists, you should reflash the software of your phone with SP Flash Tool. You can find the latest version here: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-2939-1-1.html

Bence

well, reading around all forums you could discover that overheating is still a global issue.

Over than that, users are starting to complaint about that.

Dear AlainWinP2075,

I dont play games on my phone...
Yesterday, I use the MagicJack App and the phone came realy hot only after 15 minutes.
My others phone didn't get warm using app like this.
I purchase the phone for Windows, now I don't thinks we will ever see that ROM and with Android it running not very good.

There a problem with the phone.

Alain

Dear Alain,

There are no such problems with this model normally but until it's in your hand, only you can test your own phone.
Please, process the following test to check the temperature of the CPUyour device.
1. Install AnTuTu Benchmark and CPU Monitor.
2. Start AnTuTu and run the stress test (scroll down to the bottom of the main screen). It's a 15-minute-long test, that can run in the background.
3. Go back with the Home button of your phone and run the CPU monitor app.
4. Keep your eyes on the temperature monitor and check whether it goes above 70°C or don't (if you're staying in the conditions of a normal room temperature (23°C))

Please, give me your feedback if an extreme temp value appears.

Regards,
Bence

I have noticed the heating problem only after the latest FOTA update and it's worst while using wifi.

Hi, if UMI takes the time to develop a good kernel, with optimisations, overheat issues should disapear...
If they don't want to spend time on that, you will have to live with that issue.

If UMI cares customer, they should do somethnig about that. Elsewhere who knows if your next phone will be a UMI.
