To use a golf handicap calculator Canada golfers can rely on, one must calculate handicap index based on course rating and slope rating for the course in question as outlined by the World Handicap System, which was adopted by Canada a few years ago, along with the USA, UK, and the rest of the world of golf. Therefore, the process of calculating is the same regardless of which province in Canada you choose to play your golf: subtract your score from the course rating, divide 113 by the slope rating, multiply the results and get score differential for the round. Submit a number of recent scores and calculate average of the best differentials in order to get a trustworthy Handicap Index that would let you compare your scores at a public course in Alberta with those at a private club back in Quebec.
The good thing about calculating your handicap using the online golf handicap calculator rather than manually is that it will be fast since you will not need to look for the formula sheet following the weekend game with your friends. All you need is to know the course rating and the slope rating that can be easily found on the scorecard or the tee marker. It cannot replace the official Golf Canada handicap that will be used for tournament play, but at least it is sufficient for your own purposes. |
