Hello, I've been testing my new Umi Touch and I've noticed a couple of problems that I don't know  how to solve. GPS is quite unusable because it keeps disconnecting from satellites even if I'm in an open area so  the navigation system goes crazy. I 've to use an external  BT Antenna. The second problem is that sometimes the fingerprint service stops to respond infact I've to unlock the phone with Pin Code.
When I've this problem I try to set new fingerprints but the calibration does not work either.

If I ask you to return your phone for a replacement (because your issue cannot be resolved remotely), that doesn't mean to ignore your problem. To receive an accurate knowledge, I got through all the threads related to UMI Touch and found 25 users (out of 50k+ buyers of this model), who ever reported an issue about the GPS. Here's the list:

marek2003, VTS_Tibi, arthurr, jbnl1000, COLEMANUK, ADW1264, jayss, gregf, kislery, Popeye59, Jackal, PaulusB, zecompadre, houdini, luca.dt, piki, GerardteM, The_Mazman, alopes, haupha08, AlastairWalker, Cta.pruebas, josemfg102, TOPO65, InDiliNel.

Although I asked you multiple times to share the links of some such forums where many users reported this GPS issue, I've never got a single link.
UMI continuously polishing the software of this phone, but serious issues, that probably caused by sporadic hardware defections, cannot be resolved by software updates.
So, while we honestly apologize for any inconveniences, that your purchased UMI smartphone caused to you, we sincerely ask you to contact your reseller and request a replacement of a such defective device. Although, we would really regret it, we also can understand if you don't want to use a UMI smartphone anymore. However, arrogant abuse of this brand and its representatives with ignoring all the efforts we make is not allowed here.
This case is closed.

@PaulusB

Welcome to the Club...

Mine is not from preorder. My UMI Touch was bought throught Gearbest 2 weeks ago. I hope you fix on the next update. Today I test again on the capital city of my region (rasonable better signal from Satelite) And the course on GPS navigation like google maps stop every 2 seconds everytime recalculating route or stopped the navigation. My GPS works it fix some satelites (tested with GPS Status app from Google Play), but in practice doesn't works at all, nothing, it's completly imposible navigate with. I use the phone for social networks and navigation, please fix it, find a solution and share with us but don't let us without response please.

You are not ignored, of course. If it disturbs you that your GPS is not as precise as a Swiss clock  ...

Please consider that all those user with GPS problems are not fake right? I have the same issue, the concection with the satellite works but is not stable at all. Whe navigates with Google Maps or something similar you got gaps or jumps near your location, but its son far to call it stable. Is unusable completly believe me. Please study the GPS and find a fix soon a lot of people would you take good works in front of RFCs. Please consider to fix it ASAP

Welcome to the Club...

Me too, GPS jumping every 3 seconds, not stable, so for me unusable (pre-order phone)!
Maybe only GPS problem in the pre-order batch?, who knows.

Umi has no solution, ignoring the problem and only showing a video that their Umi GPS is ok!

Because there is no proper quality control, we have bad luck.
I'm done with it, I send the phone back to the seller for a refund.

No... so many people have this issue, it simply can not be a one-off problem with that certain phone. I experienced the exact same issues, the GPS accuracy is awful.

bencebacsi, on the other side lots of users don't use GPS

my UMI Touch GPS works, but it is not very accurate compared to my X5 pro.
When using Waze in my car, regulary the speed is wrong for a couple of seconds (by more or less 10km/h).

The 2 phones are on my desk (indoor) :
X5 : 10/13 satelites
Touch : 18/22 satelites

BUT : latitude and longitude sometime change on the Touch (not on the X5) and i swear that my desk don't move

I agree with arthurr...

Just ignoring the problem is not nice.
Just Google on "MKT GPS problem'' give 161.000 hits!

My GPS works (pre-ordered phone), but the GPS also 'JUMPS' occasionally (more often than not), so for me and many many others here on this site it's unusable !

Just ordered my second Umi Touch (Gold) and the pre-order Umi Super (Grey), both with discount, I wonder if this GPS works properly.Does this GPS also not work properly, I swear, never again buy a Umi product without a decent quality control !!!

There is for the Umi Touch no decent quality control, because I openend my phone...
A loose small screw was in the phone, tighten this small screw makes no sense, because there is no screw-thread in this hole (metal strip on the flat cable) .
Another hole was empty, the worker forget a small screw !The Screen Protector with dust and junk was crooked on the iPhone !
Also nowhere to see any passed OK Quality Sticker, that says enough for me !

Hi,

I had the scanner problems too. Sometimes it works after recalibrate the scanner, but other times it's necessary to reboot... I made a factory reset and for now, that problem has disappeared. Try with a factory reset.

Dear,
For the first problem of GPS, Can you use your WiFi normally?
For the second question, yes, can you try to restore a factory settiing on your phone? We will release a new FOTA for Umi Touch recently, we will try to improve it.

Thanks for answering me:
1-GPS: yes Wifi works without problem(do you have any other suggestion?)
2-fingerprint: I did a factory restore before the latest update. I don't know if I should wait for the next Update or do a WIPE now.

I had the fingerprint scanner problems just few minutes ago. The phone was hot after some game play, I don't know if there is a relation between the two things.

I recalibrate the scanner and register a fingerprint and it starts working again.

Dear,
For the GPS, can you try to take your phone to the open ground then see how many satellites you can search on your phone?
For the fingerprint, you can try to restore factory settings firstly. We will release a new FOTA just these two days.

After the 3rd FOTA fingerprint is better even if sometimes it doesn't respond either , GPS is still unusable and I've noticed that 2-3 times a day the phone  reboots like it has crashed.

I also find the GPS can be rather erratic.  Using TomTom Go my position regularly jumps to different roads before returning later to the correct road, I do not have the same problem with Doogee Valencia 2 Y100 Pro (my old phone).  Wi-Fi works without problem except I can't turn it off.
Using AndroiTS GPS Test v1.46 Free, it appears my old phone picks up a lot of USA satellites, the Touch only seems to show the occasional (USSR?) satellite.

In my test device the GPS works perfectly in all conditions. It's always accurate (2 meters accuracy) and never miss the current position.
Your issue might be caused by a connection problem of the GPS antenna. It should be checked by a repairman or I suggest you to contact your reseller.
The fingerprint app still has issues. It will be fixed in later updates.
