Dear Forum Members,

Do you know whether the 3 issues below are normal for the eMax Mini, or do they mean I received a "bad" build of some sort?

1. I cannot see a way to migrate apps/data/passwords from my old phone to eMax Mini. The online documentation for Android 5 mentions a "Get Your Apps & Data" feature -- something that, during the initial phone setup, is supposed to copy most of my old data from the Google cloud to my new phone. However, I never saw this option appear after entering my gmail account info. Hence, I cannot easily migrate apps and especially their data.

2. Setting mobile data limit (inside "Data Usage" setting) doesn't work well! It is possible to set a data limit. However, each time I turn the data back on (after being off), the limit "slider" resets again to its factory-default value of 2.0Gb, requiring me to adjust the slider againto the value that I prefer.

3. The screen seems unresponsive compared to my old (3 year old!) phone. When swiping up/down, the scrolling is a bit slow/unresposive on frequent occasions, as if the phone doesn't always react to the finger swipe. It is almost like using a resistive touchscreen from 8 years ago. The keyboard is also much less accurate when using the "swipe" method.

Apart from these, I very much like the eMax Mini. The build is sold, the screen looks fantastic and I finally don't have to carry two phones when travelling (thanks to dual SIM). However, after a week of use I still have not completely adjusted to these issues and thinking of returning the phone.

Hi for the screen issue, are you using a screen glass protector? i used to have the same problem when i was using the glass screen protector then i switched it to a thin matte  screen protector to make it better. I also root my device and installed xposed framework and i downloaded the fix lollipop lag module, Im also using greenify and the phone runs really smooth

Hi enrique, yes I thought it was maybe due to the plastic glass protector. However, taking it off didn't improve anything.
Regarding your other suggestions, yes a custom rom would solve issue #2, although not #1.

For issue 3, this is so far the only real way to make the phone less laggy :

First of all I suggest you to install the latest stock ROM and let's see what happens. That flashing process will even replace any possible low-level drivers that can cause the malfunction of the touch screen at you.

Edited by breathwell at 2016-4-6 05:28 \n\nHi Kanatoly,

Yes, I very much liked CyanogenMod when I installed it on my old Android phone. That was a while ago, but I hope it is still good. The problem is that, if I installed CM12 now, I will be unable to return the phone to the shop. It is not 100% clear to me whether the screen lag (inaccuracy?) that I am experiencing are software-related or there's some fundamental problem with the hardware that would not be cured by any custom ROMs.

I agree with you that feels a bit laggy. For example, my K-9 mail is even slower than on the LG Nexus 4 phone that I was using before. I find this bizarre. Don't know if CM would solve it. Don't know why this app is suddenly slow (the email data is *not* on the SD card). Switching between apps is often slow as well.

Edited by breathwell at 2016-4-6 05:29 \n\nHi bencebasi,

I think I will follow your advice, at least for the time being.
Has anyone been able to use a migration tool to copy apps/data from their old phone to their new eMax Mine? My old phone is not rooted.

Hello bencebacsi,

1. After a bit of effort, I was able to use your command-line utility (emax_mini_twrp_driver_install.exe) to back up the phone with TWRP, and install the drivers, many thanks !!!
2. When trying to get the new firmware for the phone, the "Engineering Software Tool" starts downloading but gets blocked at 2%. I see the following error after approximately 5 minutes:

--------------------------
Engineering Software Download Tool QCT_SP
---------------------------
COM0->HUB1[1] Search Disk over time! Please check the handset or driver! (Error code = 40011)
---------------------------
OK

I searched the forum (there was another message about this) and I can confirm that my COM7 driver is "RELINK HS-USB QDLoader 9008".

The sequence that I do is:
1) connect the phone via USB cable (actually, it is always connected)
2) put the phone into the download screen first by pressing the 3 buttons
3) then (when the screen gets displayed) long-press the "UP" button. The screen then goes blank, and my Device Manager starts showing "RELINK HS-USB QDLoader 9008".
4) then I press the "Download" button on the Engineering Software Tool.
5) Note, that the Tool never displays any phone being connected to it (maybe it should?)
