Rooting the Umi Iron Pro

Hi,

I'm new to all the rootjoy stuff. I don't really understand what it is. I have seen a number of people asking if there is any ROMs for the Umi Iron Pro, and the answer is it has been requested and hopefully soon something will be out.

My questions is; Is a custom rom the same thing as rooting the phone?

If not then is there a way I can root my Umi Iron Pro?

I have a micro SD card in my Iron Pro. I want to move some apps to the SD card, however the phone does not allow this. Some of the apps I have seen only allow this if the phone is rooted. Is there any other way of doing this?

Any answers advice will be appreciated.

It should be rooted out of the box, as far as I know.
Also, if you can't understand is your phone rooted or not, I suggest you to avoid anything that involves root access. You can brick any phone with root in no time, if you don't understand basics and what is OK to do and what is NOT.
FYI to move something on SD card you probably will need to remount system mount points. It's dangerous and you need to be extremly careful with it. So if anything of the above sounds like gibberish to you, and it's not only because of my awful english, then don't try anything that needs root.
