No custom recovery, no root done, last factory update was 9/24 update which worked fine.
However I did open developer options, but disabled it and tried update, but it failed

@everybody,
if all of you have made a root procedure the ota upgrade will not end at all !!!
All of you will be able only to download the ota packet but the ota upgrade process will not end...because you have a firmware not original !

The only solution is to reflash the device with the original firmware !!!

The admin bencebacsi have relased also the firmware version for flashtool !

If you want to root the device in a safe way (no data loss & no update errors), you must do this:

- Install Magisk APK
- Copy boot.bin (from .rar firmware you can find in the first post) to device memory or sdcard
- Run Magisk & Press INSTALL then select edit/patch boot.bin
- Save the patched_boot.bin to pc
- Run SPFT load scatter file then select/check only BOOT and give the patched:boot.bin path/file (DOWNLOAD MODE, no need upgrade mode)
- Start & connect poweroff device
- ENJOY, after a new update you will be again unrooted,redo with new boot.bin the steps.


PS: with root i also restored the MTK EngineerMode apk

After my camera completely stopped working on the original Z2, I found a used Z2 Pro cheap. This update is amazing. Gestures work well, and the back camera bokeh mode isn't bad at all. Good work.

I have seen here somewhere you can restore MTK, but can't find it any more.
How did you do this?

You replied in that topic after that post so you should already have it downloaded or maybe  you werent interested and ignored the post, your bad.
