Hi,

I got my phone on Friday and I really like it but it's got 2 quite serious issues.
Firstly, my external SD card is not recognised neither on the phone nor my PC and
secondly, it now won't reboot and I have to use the reset button to boot it back up.
Has anyone else had any of these problems?
If yes, did you manage to overcome them - and how did you do that please, if you did?

Thanks

It happens in any devices micro sd present problems of "reading", in this case completely format the Micro SD. Of course first you have to save the most important things you have on the sd (do a little cleaning in short). You'll see that it reads it. Unless the law even after formatting it means that the reader micro sd is dead. It may be a hardware problem and in this case it's warranty and should be replaced phone.

Edited by Blandroid at 2015-8-31 09:52 \n\nHi bencebacsi,

Thanks for replying - yes, I've tried 2 different cards now but it makes no difference, the phone behaves as though there's no external SD card installed.

I removed the card like you suggested and the phone rebooted fine from recovery and the system!

What made you make that suggestion?  What do you think is wrong?

Is my phone faulty?  Do you think I should return it?

I'm hoping I don't have to but if it's a hardware problem then I have no choice

I spoke too soon bencebacsi - just tried to reboot from recovery with the card removed and the phone wouldn't boot.  Had to use the reset button again.

I'm really concerned that my luck is going to run out with all this resetting and the time will come when that just won't work.

So, I'm going to have to return it, sadly

Sorry, I don't follow - what will that achieve?

From what I've read there's an issue with the sim tray and the manner in which it connects the sim/sd card to the phone.

I can't see how flashing a rom will solve this.

Edited by Blandroid at 2015-8-31 20:05 \n\nAre you saying that flashing through RootJoy is not a reliable method?  I used RootJoy to flash V1.6 but had exactly the same issue (phone/pc not recognising extSD) with V1.5

How do I get the phone into META mode?  The battery is non-removable as you know.

Also, the phone recognises a sim card in the 2nd slot but not an SD card - why?

Blandroid, to be sure you have a defect hardware (slot tray or not) I think you have to Flash your phone with Flashtool as bencebabsi said it's not the same "Flash" with Rootjoy.
In addition you don't have problem with your simcard only with SD card so we can hope it's a software issue.
Finally I know that a user had this problem (sd card not detected and the phone not able to boot with sd card insert) and that was software issue for him.

Same problem here: phone enters bootloop when turning it on with an SD card inserted; and says "SD card damaged" if the card is inserted while on Android.

I've tried with three different cards: SanDisk SDHC 32GB formatted on PC, Samsung SDHC 32GB currently used on Android, Samsung SD 8GB used on Android too. I've also tried in ROM versions 1.0, 1.0.4 and 1.0.5, all of them flashed through SP Flash Tool.

By the way, I haven't tried updating to 1.0.6 because it's not available for SP Flash Tool, and RootJoy doesn't work on my Windows 7 x64. Why? Go figure. It only starts a process called YoumiAssistant.exe with no visible windows or whatever.

So no avail, SD card doesn't work anyway. I'm starting to regret having bought this phone, as for now it's only a very beutiful and powerful headache.

I guess I'll wait 'til 1.0.6 is available for flashing, and if that doesn't solve the SD card issue then I'm returning the phone.
