Same happens with my eMax but only at the start or change of tracks. Any ideas?

That noise is caused by the analogue headphone amplifier of the phone and low impedance (low quality in fact) earphones together. Use head/earphones that have at least 32ohm impedance. For example. That noise is really strong with my 16ohm UMI Voix earphones, hardly audible with a 32ohm Monster Turbine and completely vanishes using a pair of 50ohm audio-technika ATH-ES7 headphones.

That will never vanish perfectly but since I use mobile audio players (for about 25 years) those devices produced more natural and dynamic sound, always produced some background noise as well. Noiseless players (Panasonic discmans, Cowon and iAudio mp3/4 players and HTC or Samsung cell phones for example) have quite artificial (too sterile) sound with low dynamic. This is a definitely subjective opinion of course.

Oh, I see. Thank you. I'll try using better headphones and see.

There is no problem here. In the past, I have encountered similar problems when listening aboutbasketball hoops on my phone. The option was disabled when I explored the settings. The SD card was automatically saved when I enabled the feature. This will allow it to function properly again. Exploring the settings properly will lead you to it.
