Why do Umi keep promising then not delivering.  Do they think it's fun to keep us hoping? And don't blame Mediatek.  TCL have a working Lollipop on the M2M which is virtually the same phone.

UMI team was out of work due to the Chinese mid autumn festival. Recent news says that, the 5.0 development has been suspended but the 5.1 job is still in progress. UMI ensures all current and future customers, the lollipop upgrade for UMI eMAX will be released as soon as possible. Their developers are really working on it and are doing their best. UMI firmly claim that, this development has not been stopped and they've never lied about their intention to release a lollipop upgrade for UMI eMAX. UMI team is sorry for this unforeseen delay.

Hello UMI Team

I was very excited to make the switch and try a "Chinese" android phone and quite happy with not having to pay for the marketing expenses that drives up the costs of Samsung and LG phones.  BUT, I see now that you also pay for updates and support when you buy one of the big names above.

UMI, you can only stall your customers for so long before we turn against you.  Better hurry up and bring 5.1 (or 5.0) to the eMAX fast.  You advertised it, now deliver please.

Your customer,
Pierre

I do not blame MediaTek in this case. since they released the kernel to the lollipop. I blame the MediaTek MT6592 that if the kernel does not have to lollipop, but even not having the kernel for lollipop another user could adapt the CM12 for the MT6592 and they could have lollipop 5.1. Just need greater attention from the company in this regard.

Tired of waiting. Mine is now on sale for 80$ :p
I'm pretty sure now you won't have any update ever on this phone.
Never seen such a fallacy marketing but they got me too. Nice job UMI !

"I'm pretty sure now you won't have any update ever on this phone."

Would you dare to bet on it?
By the way, the popular brand, Jiayu's S3 (that's also built with MT6752 SoC and was announced as a flagship) also still comes out with Android 4.4.4 from the factory and no official lollipop update is available but unofficial (custom made) firmwares only. So, that's probably true, the source of this issue is MediaTek, not the phone manufacturers.

Like I said About a month ago. One brandt should not be advertising the phone is upgradable to lollipop if no version is available. I don't care of who is in cause. UMI is responsible of their own advertisment.
Congrats for your patience after being so pissed off

Just take a look at this advertisement and the comments below. LINK
Probably MediaTek was that who tricked the phone manufacturers by false promises. Wouldn't you believe it if a tech giant of the world promises something? So, UMI as well as other great Chinese manufacturers created their adds according to MTK's promises.
