Dear UMI eMAX users,

UMI developers reported today, an Android 5.0 upgrade is going to be released this week and Android 5.1 in ten days for UMI eMAX.
The only unsolved issue is related to touch screen handling.
Furhter information about the upgrade format (Rootjoy, OTA or SP Flash Tool) or other known issues is not available yet.
A beta version is not available for the public. Please, don't ask for that.
I really hope, these lines will not be just meaningless words again.

Thank you for your enthusiastic patience.

bencebacsi

EDIT 10.22.2015: The title (and only that) of this thread has been changed from 'UMI eMAX lollipop news' to 'UMI eMAX lollipop discussion' to make it less misleading for new users. If real news is available, that will be published in a new thread.

Attention! Attention! Breaking news of the breaking news!

My reliable inner man at UMI Development said me for sure, that the Android 7.2 (Larks' tongues in aspic) is coming to UMI eMAX next month. That's sure. And really-truly-verily probable indeed in earnest that the Android 8.1 (Eye of newt and toe of frog) is coming at Christmas. And of course the UMI Development also promised, that Lollipop is coming yesterday or before yesterday, so we must wait only minus one or two days for Lollipop (with a time machine, of course - if you don't have a time machine, buy one quickly if you want Lollipop).
So so.

Not sure if umi will ever concede to no lollipop but that aside I think the moderaters should recognise that most forums are for freely stating opinions and observations. When receiving a comment that "those who spend little get little" from a moderater is absurd. If I pay 10 pounds for a calculator that shows a false spec on the box I will exercise my right as a consumer to complain to whoever I can. The cost of an item should have no bearing on the accuracy of specifications and advertised upgrades. I would probably expect a cheaper finish on an item or a less reliable battery than others and accept that happily. I will not accept that blatantly lying and misleading potential customers to gain sales is unacceptable in a great many countries and western companies have faced sizeable fines for the same practices as umi.

so is it confirmed that we won't be getting the upgrade?

No, it isn't. The last news says that, the lollipop update is almost done.
All those guys who recommend other phones to replace our eMaxes, beside their prices, they should check their performance and battery size as well. In its price range UMI eMAX is still one of the best mobile phones of the world. I'm also very disappointed of the missing lollipop upgrade but that only means the loss of a possible performance upgrade, not the loss of the current usability. I still don't feel myself to be limited at installing and running any kinds and amount of applications and at using my phone for any long time that's possible a day since the battery is extraordinary strong regardless of its rated or real quality. All of these are quite new experiences for me.

Ok guys, I respect the opinions of all. I understand your frustrations about all concern that topic and over.
I do not agree that complain and threaten not solve the problems. And since the forum it is full of people who just writes things like this in the long run one gets bored. Why not instead created a topic dedicated to the protests and declarations of sale / destruction / disgraced / and adverse publicity?
Nothing personal, I always like the comparison, at whatever level it may be.

And it seems you enjoy a little bit of trolling too.

Hope you guys get your upgrade, though it seem ...

Martyn, to me the update does not affect the device is that it is a wonder as it is. Perhaps you mistook the "trolls" with the irony that I try to put to defuse situations.
You're welcome

Hi,
The truth is somewhere between the two statements.

The MT6582 is a 32-bit SoC, so it will use only 32-bit resources even under lollipop. The MT6752 SoC is a 64-bit hardware, so it uses still 32-bit resources under KitKat (since that's a 32-bit OS) but 64-bit with lollipop. Do you believe that already, a lollipop ROM cannot be ported using a KitKat kernel? Can you install a 32-bit driver under 64-bit Windows? The same issue here. So if you want to do something reasonable, try to create a driver module for the camera, that can be placed in the system/lib/modules folder. I'm not familiar with that job.

This device is not a 10 Euro value because it is the big lie of UMI's .The company Umi would long before have to develop an upgrade to Lollipop before they sold their phones with the assertion '' Lollipop supported ''

Don't worry, just a few minutes and I'm looking for some silly dreams. P.s.: Sorry, but not enough room here for silly walks.
