This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V7.01_20170308 Android 7.0 firmware
for UMI Super

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMI Super receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

WARNING!
Always flash this ROM as 'Firmware Upgrade', not 'Download Only' if you are upgrading an Android 6.0 system!

Changelog:
  • Fast charging optimized
  • Rear LED flash light color optimized
  • Added 'RAM' and 'Internal storage' to Settings -- About phone
  • 'S view cover setting' removed from Settings
  • Notification light bug fixed
  • Stock Music app bug fixed
  • Minor bug in Navigation fixed

Known bug: Fast charging is still unstable

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorials: UMI Forum or androidxda guide or YouTube guide (you can google a lot of other solutions and guides)

>>>>> ROM: 20170308_c239v55_kw_u1.rar <<<<< - Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6755_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other elements

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMI Super if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop.
1. Connect your UMI Super to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to either the internal memory or the SD card of your phone
  • Go to Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner and select Local updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Tap Install now, comfirm the process with OK and wait until the process will be finished

>>>>> Update file for manual OTA update: UMi_Super_V7.01_201710308_update.zip <<<<<

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the recovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

I'm in the making of making a custom rom for Nougat 7. Since i only can use the stock kernel don't be to hyped about it but one thing i can assure you guys is that it will not have unstable quick charge and battery drain.

I haven't managed to get it to boot yet on my build i made but give me a few days, maximum a week and it will be posted on XDA.

They should release the source code so there can be customized roms. There are many good guys on xda eager to build a better rom. I am also running a custom rom, but because of the kernel source code is not releasing stock kernel. Elephone p9000 has custom kernel (same processor).

Well we r all human and made mistakes. It's just that sending out a firmware that doesn't work as a ota is just  amateur work. As soon as I got the message of that update I said to Ben that he should inform the devs to stop the roll-out of the firmware over the air. This wasn't stopped with all the consequences of it.
People that used the spft after reading the change log shouldn't complain but the people that got the ota have every right to do it.
Just my opinion.

Edited by rolandvb at 2017-4-6 14:12 \n\nI  alreddy warned you guy`s about installing android 7 on the Umi Super and that this could damage or even destroy the battery compleetly.
Umidigi did not react on my input and  they are silent about this matter.
Now there is proof that it is true! Now One UMI Super  almost exploded , mine became also very hot and i was so wise to emediatly go back to android 6
UMIDIGI is acting very unresponsable to provide updates that are defenatly harmfull to the battery and  is a big failure on Umidigi`s dev.side
android 7 never should have be relaesed before fixing the fastcharge and batterymanagement failure on android 7

I am 100% sure all owners who updated the Umi Super to android 7 will have all at least a damaged battery ,or even worse,
my claim is that UMIDIGI is responsable for the damage they caused on our phones by updating to a version of android 7 that never should have been released and all the consequences of it because it is a official release not a beta version.

If Umidigi is a decent company they would make all Umi Super buyers a apology AND A offer to be able buy a new phone for at least 70% discount .
I don`t believe umi will be able to solve the batterymanagment and quickcharge on android 7 for the umi super, the phone is not google certified and the hardware is not compatable with android 7 and thAt is the problem . that is why the next new COMING phones with andoid 7 out of the box will DEFENATLY NOT have A fastcharge option. Umi SIMPLY DON`T promise upates instead of releasing inferiour firmmware that is damaging the phone Umidigi would have done better to improve andoid 6 first and remove the remaiming bugs in android 6  before downgrading the Umi Super to the latest android 7, wise persons on this forum don`t even bother to update because android 7 sucks and is all over the forum by now.

charging the battery after A7 update 3 hours, the A6 has been charged for 2 hours and 30 minutes. In ...

Normally the fast charging works at 12V/1A when the battery percentage is between about 5% and 80%. Now with this ROM it works at 12V/0.75A (if the charging voltage can stabilize) causing slower charging but also less heat dissipation.

Forum is for sharing informations not for telling to people too striking. That why you will be baned if I see this again.
As I presume that you reading all roles etc. You should understand that whole warranty responsibility taking seller and you always should contact to seller.
Most sellers giving partially refund to cover battery cost which is around up to €12 but you can get for €8 too.
If you are not happy with Android 7.0 please use SPFT and come back to android 6.0

Whoever reads this forum should know that a7 is buggy as hell (it's not only quick charge) If you decide to upgrade to a7 risk that your phone will get damaged. For your own sake roll back to a6. It works fine and you can get the most from your super. Personally I'm hugely disappointed by umi and will never buy anything from them. Super was the most unreliable phone i have ever had. Now on one plus 3t and enjoy great product and outstanding support. Ps.... Leave your honest opinion re umi super on  other websites (trusted reviews, etc) as other potential buyers should be aware what they are buying.

the updates are over, even for umi plus stopped supporting it, they make the A7 for umi z

UMI can not give us A7 with erro and leave us there and say it is finish. We will stome other forum in protests and help them do advert in google and facebook telling people how bad they are.

Well, I've kind of surrendered to the state of things.
Sure, battery life is (relatively speaking) really bad, but I get thru a day without problem - Just like with any phone I've had lately. My disappointment stems from the fact that it used to be somewhere between 2-4 days between charges. And that's what should be expected from a 4.000 mAh battery.
Sure, BT almost never reconnects once the connected device (my Wear watch) has moved out of range for a minute. But it's easy to just toggle BT off/on to regain the connection.
Sure, PE+ QuickCharge would be nice to get back, but I've mostly used a regular 5V charger anyway.
Sure, I could go back to 6.0 - But I don't want the hazzle of reinstalling, configuring and all that.

But: It'd sure be nice to know if there's any kind of development going on at UmiDigi to address at least the most glaring bugs still in the 7.0 release(s), or am I left with this, with no option but to roll back to 6.0 should I get too frustrated ?

Comments

After a few weeks with my Elephone s7 all i can say: Never another umidigi device again. I still have my super but use it less and less.  Post time 2017-4-8 02:09

Integrity would urge UMIDIGI to provide information to its customers whether it intends to improve charging problems and the battery life that has occurred since the last Android FOTA update 7. Not every UMI SUPER trainee has the knowledge and skills to return to a stable Android version at their own risk. 6, which can lead to damage and loss of warranty. Maybe UMIDIGI will be able to return to A6 via FOTA

Hi,
I didn't even experience such issues with the previous version but now I'm checking it for you with a continuously connected stereo bt headset.
Turn off bluetooth scanning in Settings --> Location (3-dot menu button).

I think you have to work in battery again.

From 100 to 23% in 1 day and 16 hours.

Im charging my phone at the moment and i have  +26% in 38 minutes (i think this is fast charge).

At the moment i don't have other issues.

Cheers.

And to be quite honest. Just going through the changelog i'm quite disappointed. We waited almost two months for this update mate and myself and others probably thought the three main issues with battery drain, bluetooth battery drain and stable fast charging would be sorted by now.

How about BT stability ? Does anyone know ? No disconnections and connections ?

BT is pretty stable - and has actually been for a while if you make sure to disable all battery optimizations (a.k.a. Turn stuff off) regarding BT.  Post time 2017-3-14 02:02
How could we know? I haven't even installed this update yet since i don't do OTA's.By the look of things i will stay on Marshmallow FOREVER or just opt in for a new phone,Elephone might be worth a try  Post time 2017-3-13 23:47

If you want to update through OTA, Yes. If you rather update through SPFT just wait until the file is uploaded and available in the download section in this thread.  Post time 2017-3-13 23:53
