This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the

V7.01_20170303 Android 7.0 firmware

for UMI MAX

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!

UMI MAX receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

WARNING!

It is an Android version upgrade. Always flash this ROM as 'Firmware Upgrade', not 'Download Only' if you are upgrading an Android 6.0 system!

Known bug: Fast charging is still unstable causing much slower battery charging!

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMI MAX if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop.

1. Connect your UMI MAX to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to either the internal memory or the SD card of your phone
• Go to Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner and select Local updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Tap Install now, comfirm the process with OK and wait until the process will be finished

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the recovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

I have also the same problem. I do not know whether it is due to a software bug.
I think we'd all like to have an answer to this question.

That's after a few weeks of using the Android 7 version, here's the result, when the battery is at 2 ...

I installed the update a few weeks ago.
I am very satisfied with the Update.
Everything is working fine.
I have installed it via OTA.

The Battery is running about 1 1/2 day to 2 Days in a normal Usage - I use the UMI-Max as "Work" - Phone...
The Charging time is about 4 to 5 hours with the original UMI - Charger (with 1,0 Ampere), when the Battery is very low (about 2%).

A few day's ago I noticed a interesting thing:

I plugged in the Charger and after maybe 1/2 hour you will see the time how long the charging Process is lasting.
Then there was a Charging time of about 8 hours...
I plugged the charger off und after a few minutes I plugged it in again.
And then the Charging - Time was normal (about 4 hours)
Maybe some of you have a Hardware - Problem ???

Also the Fingerprint - Sensor is working perfekt.
My Fingerprints are recognized in most times very fast.

GPS is also good. But i must confess, that the GPS on my iPhone 7 Plus (my private Mobile - Phone) is better.
But the iPhone is much more expensive so I in my opinion the GPS on the Umi - Device ist Good.
Bluethooth and WLAN are also working very good and stable.

The only for me litte negative thing is the Quality of Pictures made with the Back and Front-Camera.
The Qualtiy is a little bit better since I've installed Android 7.

If I want good Quality Pictures I use my iPhone 7 Plus.
So that's is not a Problem for me.

What can I tell else.
The System is working very fine, fast and stable...

The only thing that change two days ago its the update. Till then battery and charging were ok. After the update and with no new apps , charging time with the phone close ....6 hours. How can i see , what you say. And iam not the only one with that problem

The still existing fast charging bug is mentioned under the changelog. However, I cannot reproduce your dialer and battery saving mode crashes neither in this one nor in earlier versions, not even if the language is set to Russian.
Try to process a factory data reset or flash this version with the flash tool, choosing the Firmware Upgrade method and/or remove both your SIM card and SD card, and dial an emergency number for test purpose.

Phone is now significantly slower!! I did clean update (I did factory reset and wiped cache after upgrade). Then when I played a game I noticed stuttering so I ran benchmarks and scores are MUCH LOWER!! I suppose you underclocked CPU to 1.8 GHz(that's what programs say) but question is why you haven't informed us about it!! Phone became laggy. Fix it please.
