UMI Emax MINI wont boot into download mode.

I was using TCL M3G Cm12.1 Varotone builds for a while now but the camera is pretty bad on those builds whereas it was pretty good on the UMI stock. So i thought of going back into the Stock Rom.
I downloaded the falshtool 6FAA-ZP1-P5002.exe and flashed the M3M Rom on it.
Now that I wanted to go back CM12.1, I powered off my phone and pressed VOLUME DOWN+VOLUME UP+ POWER button but to my surprise, instead of going into downlaod mode, it booted up the system and i came back to my homescreen. i tried doing it multiple times but everytime it goes straight to the ROM instead of download mode.
I have no idea how or why this is happening because vol down+vol up+power used to work before.
Can someone please help me identify the problem here?
