UMIDIGI VR Headset VR BOX 6

I'm new to VR and just purchased the UMIDIGI VR Headset VR BOX 6 along with the VR Bluetooth Remote Controller listed as frequently bought together on Amazon.com.  I successfully paired the remote with my LG smartphone but I can't seem to use it with any of the VR Apps.  So far I've only been able to view intorductions to the apps.  After the start of one app it says "look left" with an arrow pointing to the left.  With the VR remote I can get a mouse pointer on the arrow but nothing happens when I click.  I'm assuming of course that the UMIDIGI VR Headset VR BOX 6 does not have eye control.
The discription of the  UMIDIGI VR Headset VR BOX 6 also says "Cardboard" do I have to download a "Cardboard" app to view it's content?  The instructions which come with the  UMIDIGI VR Headset VR BOX 6 has very little information so as someone very new to VR any help would be greatly appreciated.
