This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V3.01_20161227 (Android 6.01) firmware
for UMI Plus E

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMI Plus E receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

If you are updating an earlier version, always flash this ROM as 'Firmware Upgrade'!

Changelog:
  • MTK patch updated
  • Automatic switch test items added

SPFT Resources:

Flashtool tutorials: UMI Forum or androidxda guide or YouTube guide (you can google a lot of other solutions and guides)

ROM: 20161228_g9v57_kw_u3_4m.rar - Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6757_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other elements

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMI Plus E if the standard method doesn't work. It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMI Plus E to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to either the internal memory or the SD card of your phone
  • Go to Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner and select Local updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Tap Install now, comfirm the process with OK and wait until the process will be finished

Update file for manual OTA update: UMi_Plus_E_V3.01_20161227_update.zip

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Advice: After flashing but before using any GPS app, please calibrate the magnetic field sensor by running a compass app and meanwhile drawing eights with your phone in the air. You can check with the compass app wheter your sensor is calibrated well before and after. Tutorial: https://youtu.be/M0tK0zWXUXU

When it will arrive the Ota from Android N to Umi Plus E?
The last update came on December 30th, but it was Android 6.0.1. I thought Android 7.0 was already available for Umi Plus E.

Regards.

Hi,

If you process an update from an earlier version with SP Flash Tool, please always do it as firmware upgrade. Or, if you don't want to lose your user data, just wait for the FOTA update and don't use this flash tool. Furthermore, since a such update may contain updated drivers as well, that's also recommended to recalibrate the fingerprint sensor and set new fingerprint samples even if you've kept your existing user data. Also do so with the magnetic field sensor.

WMA is generally not supported by any Android stock players since that format is licensed by Microsoft. However, you can find a lot of third party players for playing them.
You can use mp3 files as ringtones but please copy them to the internal storage and use a third party file manager to pick them up or copy directly to the Ringtones folder, so the Mediastorage app will see them.

how can i calibrate the fingerprint sensor? the is no point to choise.

When you set a new fingerprint, you can choose Calibration rather than sampling your fingerprint. Then just do follow the instructions.

Sorry there is no calibrate funktion. i did try it. And search this point of funktion.

Oops! Yes, I've checked and that option is missing in all Android 7.0 versions of other UMi phones as well. The Plus E is the only one with 6.0.1 version and I don't have it yet. I've requested information about this case. Until we get a solution (if ever), try to delete your old fingerprints and set them again.
