I can't confirmed that other brands and Google can push complete ROM version change without wiping all memory.
Only FOTA update can not wipe all data as this is only patch/patches  repair update.
OTA and SPFT is for replacing ROM as all system is changing you need add/replace new drivers etc that why device is coming back to factory setting.
Ok on SPFT if you updating system you can uncheck cache, user memory and all your data will be saved,but not for whole ROM version.

Hi,

1. Both drivers work perfectly under 64-bit Windows 10 systems but not in 32-bit versions (except Win XP) and they are still the best working drivers. Opposite to your statement, I frequently look for new drivers but better ones do not exist. That's a question why anybody use 32-bit Windows systems in 2016 - completely pointless.
2. You always have to make an Android version upgrade with clean install, regardless of the installing method. The OTA update also will clear the old user data. However, that's not an obligation to upgrade your phone or use SP Flash Tool. Both of them are just possibilities for those ones who find them useful. The backup and restore function works as Google provides it, you can restore your apps and settings at the startup after flashing your phone.
3. We don't know that in advance (yes or no, both are possible) but generally if you root your phone, that's better to keep SPFT as your updater tool.

sorry to say that drives on win 10 don't work.i have tried several time to flash the rom, following the instructions very carefully, but nothing happens.
i open the sp flash, i find the correct txt file, i press download (one time download only and one time upgrade),conect switched off phone to pc and nothing happens.
i believe it all happends because win 10 do not recognize the drivers.
please advise if it is better to wait for the OTA, as till this moment i did not get it although it was promised by UMI to do it within 24 hours to all UMI PLUS owners.

I do this update (via SPFT) and it works OK, it even works with TWRP recovery, it just erases all the data on the cell, so ensure your cloud backup of your applications (eg Whatsapp, etc) and gmail cloud.

I am Polish and I live in Greece
GPS further loses every few moments Fix or wrong shows the location
UMI Company sells faulty equipment and does nothing to poprwić this situation
Today I have uploaded to umi plus android7> UMI PLUS 7.0 – Update 12/09/2016
GPS then every few moments loses coverage and looking for a fix
noticed that the LTE network also sometimes loses coverage
Compass also shows badly

Mostly that you pointed out in the beta section were your own specific needs, not issues.
