This is the SP Flash Tool + downloadable OTA release of the
V1.01_20161017 firmware
for UMI MAX

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMI MAX receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

Changelog:
- Minor bug fixes
- Improved touchscreen sensitivity
- Improved fingerprint sensor performance

Resources for SPFT:

Flashtool tutorials: UMI Forum or androidxda guide or YouTube guide (you can google a lot of other solutions and guides)

ROM: 20161017_c239v55_kw_u11.rar - Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6755_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other elements

SPFT: SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1628.rar (use this one instead of the old version linked in the UMI forum guide)

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMI MAX if the standard method doesn't work. It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop.
1. Connect your UMI MAX to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
1. Copy the downloaded .zip file to either the internal memory or the SD card of your phone
2. Go to Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update
3. Tap the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner and select Local updates
4. Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
5. Tap Install now, comfirm the process with OK and wait until the process will be finished

Update file for manual OTA update: UMi_MAX_20161017_c239v55_kw_u11_update.zip
Compatible with TWRP but cannot be installed on modified (ever rooted) systems
.
Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Until few days the fingerprint sensor was almost perfect with 20161017. Today it went totally mad/wild. Absolutely unusable.  Once fake touches -> of course unsuccessful unlocks. Other times it doesn't recognize the real touches.
When I lock the screen with power button, the phone buzz immediately once or several times , after that I'm unable to unlock with fingerprint. After one buzz doesn't recognize the touches.
After several buzzes (fake touches within less than a second), I get "Too many attempts" message .

Deleted the all of fingerprints, reboot, recalibrate the sensor many times. It was almost 5 minutes to record one fingerprints "circle" : piece of shit....
As I see, the problem is the same with the new ROM of Umi Super.

It would be nice to solve finally this annoying, repeating problem with this main feature. I'm unable to imagine, that they are not able to reproduce this error.

Could you explain me what you exactly looking for?

It's the first time I'm doing this and I tried to do it as written above and nothing is working. I am currently using windows 10 and I have issues with the driver installation and the spft + rom flash. Can you make a deeper guide line with illustrations showing step by step how to do the procedures please ?

Manual (local) OTA update method is NOT working.. right after restart process won't start and I get Error!
Also file size is about 10-11MB isn't it too small for the update?

Use SPFT for update to latest software version.
There is some software problem in 20160810 ROM cause FOTA and OTA update error.

You need understand that updates is not full ROM replacement this is repairing patch so there could be any size depend how many repairs are done.
You need use SPFT to emigrate from 20160810 to latest version as in 20160810 ROM Is some problem which cause errors while using FOTA or OTA updates.

I feel you. The fingerprint worked fine for a few days and after that it became utterly useless. I'm sick of this thing. As many of you I picked this phone for this feature, but now I'm not able to use it anymore. Umi, do something!!!
