Anybody else having the problem that the SPFT just isn't doing anything? MTK drivers installed, usb debugging active, the turned of phone shortly appearing in device manager but no flashing no matter which buttons I press

Unfortunately that depends on MediaTek, not on UMi. You hardly can find the source code of any MTK SoC based phones.

Why keep using them then? There are now plenty of cheap alternatives like the Intel atom z3580 ect.

Just like Elephone, UMI is blaming MediaTek. It's simple, MediaTek is in breach of the GPL of the linux kerne and the apache license android is licensed under. This has been going on for ages and it does not seem like MTK is going to change their policy anytime soon.

I don't understand how a nondisclosure can be valid on something that mediatek are legally obliged to release or why google does not step in and either force mediatek to release its sources or punish it over and over again until it does what its supposed to do on time or failing that edit their agreements and prevent mediatek from using android on its devices until it fulfills its obligations. It would oon change.

Company that use MTK obviously know about this....expecially after doing  the same experience on ALL previous mobile models..... today UMI can not say: "it is not my foult"!

MediaTek, being from Taiwan, simply doesn't care.

It seems their mindset is "Yes, we don't care about your license. What are you gonna do about it? Sue us? LOL!"
