tl;dr
- wipe the phone
- disable auto-update
Dears,
As I spent HOURS trying to solve the similar issues and I believe I found a solution.
Same story as the OP.
GPS worked fine until one day it decided to die on me.
Google didn't help much, as the forums were referring to a specific hardware.
I went through all the gps fix apps, I was disabling AGPS data, disabling the LocationEM process, all sort of crazy stuff and nothing.
I almost opened my phone to check, if the antenna is not broken.
Something came out, when I reset the phone to default setting (shut down the phone, press the Vol Down + power button, in the Chinese menu choose the option with MMC), logged in with my google account and it worked. For a moment. After couple of hours, or next day the GPS was again not functioning.
It always started the same - visible satellites, no fix, and then no satellites at all.
I even logged in with a different google account.
By then I knew, that it's a software issue, and not a hardware one.
I started to look for an app, that was causing this malfunction.
I targeted couple of applications (Here+ maps, Google Maps, Street View) but disabling them, and uninstalling the updates didn't help.
Sooo, I decided that it's something different.
I wiped the device, logged in using the same google account, and disabled the auto-update function in the Google Play store before it could update itself.
As for now (second day and counting) GPS catches fix in about 10 seconds.
Downside of this situation is outdated google software:
- Google
- Google Mail
- Google Drive
- Google Street View
- Google+
- Google Maps
- Youtube
As I have enough of wiping the device for now, I will not search for that one application that is causing this issue.
I really hope, that this solution will work for others as well.
