It was a combination of UMI's cheap antenna and my D-Link router. Changed routers and problem was solved!

Edited by avalon at 2016-1-24 01:14 \n\n Edited by avalon at 2016-1-23 18:55 \n\nI have recently bought the UMI eMax mini smartphone, and it has a wireless connection problem too.

Things I have done so far:
Rebooted my Netgear router
Restarted the phone, several times
Changed the wireless channel from Auto, to 5 then 3 then 2 etc
Turned on Mobile Data
Taken the sim card out , cleaned it and replaced

Wireless is turned on, but there is no wireless connection, except only very occasionally for a few seconds, then it goes off again.

I have 3 other wireless devices which can connect by wireless without having to change any settings.

Has anyone managed to solve this problem, by any means?

Just an update here.
Today I asked a guy who repairs mobile phones to have a look for me. He stripped the phone down, removed the battery and checked the wifi antenna was seated correctly, which it was. Then he did a hard reset of the software, but still no wifi connection.

So by my logical deduction, it can only be or something wrong with the wifi chip, as has been said above.

Edit: just flashed my emax mini with the latest firmware, and it has not solved the connection problem, oh well, c'est la vie !

Replaced my router and the problem was gone! It has something to do with the cheap-ass WIFI chip that Umi uses....

You phone might have a unique defection. I'm also an eMax user but the wifi reception is extraordinary strong and stable at me. Much better than any other HTC or Apple smartphones that I tested.
