Edited by Metalhead at 2016-5-13 22:05 \n\nAs per the subject i want to root my phone but i'm not entirely sure of the best method to do this. The main reason i want to root my phone is so i can install Viper4Android to improve the sound as i cannot find a decent sound equalizer and the Viper app worked amazing on my previous phone. I've read a few posts on other forums regarding some of the one-click rooting apps so although that would be an ideal solution i don't want to risk infecting my phone with anything as a result of those apps. Has anyone any opinions to the safest and preferably easiest method of rooting the Umi Rome X. Thanks.

Yes. I got the progress bars at the bottom and the green tick at the end. I've went through the procedure again and it appears to have worked again....but when i reboot its still got the stock Umi Rome X recovery. Any idea how i can get it to boot into TWRP? Thanks for your help.

The grey out is a normal behavior of the app after clicking the Download button (indicates that, you cannot operate the app until the flashing process finished) but then you have to connect your powered off phone to USB.
I couldn't test it with Rome X but if connecting your phone this way is ineffective, you can try to press and keep pressed the power button (for about 10 seconds) until the flashing process starts. Then you may release the power button and must wait for the finishing of the flashing.

Well i've tried using the supplied instructions about 10 times and nothing happened....then its worked & i got the tick to say it'd worked but i have no idea what i did differently. Anyway, i've rebooted and the recovery image hasn't changed. Still no further forward. :-(

Did you see the yellow ptrogress bar at the bottom of the app screen going ahead, then the green checkmark at the end?

Did you brows for the TWRP recovery image by double clicking the path field of the recovery line? If you select the proper recovery image and the flashing process finishes properly, then that's impossible to do it without changes at the end.
