I'm assuming that you CANNOT take every ROM you like and select only TWRP on C Note?
Or does the TWRP looks and feels totally the same, regardless of device?

Ok, it's me again.
Instruction worked without any extra issues. Assuming you are clever enough to READ entire text BEFORE action, there's hardly a space to screw something.
Just keep in mind that stock ROM will not tolerate custom recovery, remember about OTG cable and mouse (could be wireless, I do not test it, xda-dev said that it will work), and everything will be fine.
For me, whole solution worked AFTER I've flashed with custom ROM, then the TWRP, then SU.
Just hoping that battery drainage will be fixed or patched soon.

Hey, which Custom Rom did you use? I own a C_Note and everything seems to work fine, even the "non touch" works with touch. Now I got a Booterror, but it doesnt matter, thats a new phone with no data on it at all.

So which Rom did you use?

EDIT: The official SPFT Release in this forum works, after I: (how to root)
1. Installed a clean version of it with the spft tool
2. copied the SU zip file on my umi c note
3. do the steps like on page 1
4. do not boot normal (boot loop), boot into recovery, follow onscreen instructions to get into it
5. install su zip file in twrp, do not wipe dalvic cache after installation, just hit reboot
6. now my phone rebooted 2 times, than I got a brand new rooted SPFT ROM

@gorro - I'll try to answer as good as I can.

I've used rom listed in this link - http://community.umidigi.com/thread-7725-1-1.html
I've installed it twice (by mistake XD) - both with stock recovery and custom (TWRP) one. Both of these versions works, but I've checked unchanged only for boot.
I've also done ith with SPFT, with the same options, as mentioned in guide.
After clean instalation of listed above rom, I've turned my phone on to see, if everything is OK.
It was OK, so I've turned it down, put once more into SPFT and then installed custom recovery (TWRP 3.1.0 no-touch from xda).
Quick patch install (SU package) via OTG mouse, as well as You - no wipe dalvik has been made.
After one reset (only difference I think) got phone, that had everything in place. After quick check in Market, looked like it got root, superuser is working, apps could ask for permissions to SU.
I've just unchecked installing TWRP as system app, so I'm not 100% sure if this will work propertly with this mod.

As you can see I managed it.
The "Custom ROM" confused me, because this is the official spft relase, not a custom ROM like cyanogen

Hi! I am not able to root my UMI MAX (ROM V7.01_20170613 Android 7.0) with this procedure. It starts, but all apps are continously closing. No one works. Any idea?

It worked fine on V6.0.

Regards,

Edited by Alice3382 at 2017-6-18 14:26 \n\nI have both PLUS E and Z PRO, and i updated the rom with SPFT. but when i try to flash the TWRP on both, both having some trouble getting TWRP. PLUS E does not seems install TWRP properly at all(it just shows broken android robot) and Z PRO kinda do the job, but after i install TWRP i get bootloop. so pretty much can not boot in the system. is this a SPFT problem? or my phone both get faqed up in process? dunno. i even clean flashed every rom
