Yes, I know that from user reports, this newer TWRP is compatible with the 3.0.5 version but that  ...

Or I presume it'd be possible to downgrade to a version of the ROM where it works with the latest TWRP recovery image you have linked? Please help me in any way possible - I'm in urgent need.

Over at XDA, I requested for one and it successfully works with my phone which has the lastest LCD driver. Please update so other people can benefit too. Full credit goes to ZonaRMR https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=5691078...

Hi there again. I'm now trying to flash custom ROMs but they all get stuck in a boot loop. I tried to proceed with flashing the stock kernel with fastboot but it seems that the bootloader is locked. I was reading somewhere else that UMI has intentionally put this to block custom ROM installations. Is there no way I can install a custom ROM or do I proceed with unlocking it?

Edited by bobbob at 2017-1-4 01:28 \n\n Edited by bobbob at 2017-1-3 22:32 \n\nSOLVED
FOR ANYONE TRYING TO INSTALL CYANOGENMOD OR ANY OTHER CUSTOM ROM ON UMI ROME X, THE KERNEL NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OR DON'T FLASH KERNEL. PEOPLE WITH NEW DEVICES USE THE LATEST TWRP RECOVERY LINKED ON THE FIRST PAGE.

FIRST UNZIP THE ROM.
EITHER GO INTO META-INF/COM/GOOGLE/ANDROID AND THEN OPEN UPDATER-SCRIPT. REMOVE THE LINE TOWARDS THE END WHICH WRITES THE KERNEL (BOOT.IMG) - SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS:
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.0/by-name/boot");
AND THEN RE-ZIP FILE AND FLASH
OR
JUST DELETE BOOT.IMG AND THEN RE-ZIP AND F
OR
REPLACE THE BOOT.IMG WITH THE STOCK BOOT.IMG FROM ONE OF THE SPFT STOCK ROM FLASH THINGY

I hope this helped anyone out there with a UMI Rome X - I don't want others to endure the pain I did. For any help or inquiries regarding the UMI ROME X device (root, recovery, custom rom), reply to this message but I think I've linked everything below.

TWRP for UMI ROME X latest LCD 3.0.5 this worked for me as I had the newer LCD variant *TESTED*: http://www.mediafire.com/file/m7 ... .0.2-UMI_ROME_X.img
TWRP for UMI ROME X may work not tested : http://www.mediafire.com/downloa ... /TWRP3.0.0RomeX.img
CM 12.1 for older device with old LCD : http://www.needrom.com/download/cyanogenmod-9/Also many other ones like freeme OS ( I don't like it personally) and Amigo OS V8 (not the old one on needrom - testing currently)
CM12.1 FOR NEW DEVICES WITH NEW LCD: http://www.needrom.com/download/cyanogenmod-9/ (same link but follow steps above - replace boot.img with stock kernel from ROM releases from UMI, delete it? or just delete the line which flashes it ^^^ we won't be able to flash new kernels without unlocking bootloader which I don't want to do as custom rom is enough)

Hope this helped and any questions, please do reply

Seconded; as soon as I came home with my new UMi Plus E in hand, the first thing I've tried to do was to properly root it. I've got basic knowledge on ADB commands, though I still couldn't find a way (specifically, an ADB command) to bypass the initial TWRP warning ("system mounted as read-only").

I can not install TWRP on my UMi Plus. Everything with the flash is OK, but immediately after the first restart, no mater what I do, the phone can not enter in the recovery mode and booting normal. After the second restart the original stock recovery is restored by the system. I've tried few times and it's always the same. Any ideas?
