Install custom recovery (TWRP, CWM etc.) and root

\n\nHey, I've got something really weird here.
I just tried again, and for a reason I cannot find :

-There's the "you-hooked-something" sound, the phone appears in the Device Manager as not working properly;
-After a few seconds, there's the "Oh-you-removed-it" sound, the phone is not in the Device Manager anymore;
-Harlequin LED turns on in red (charging colour) and even the screen is showing a battery icon, then the animation of charge (it's at 0% for now)
-After a few moments, as if the phone hadn't brick, screens turns off. I can switch it on again with Power button.
-I waited a few moments. Then, I tried turning it on.
AND IT F**KING TURNS ON
WTF

Well, I guess I won't try to start SPFT anymore.

EDIT:
I guess it seemed bricked because the battery was at 0%, but 2 things are strange:
-The phone had already been connected to the computer several times, sometimes for hours, but it makes this only now, as I just plugged it in;
-The battery was at 90% or so when the pronlem occured, it seems weird to me that it's already hitting the 0 without being turned on... ?

I got the phone with V3.01_20161117, TWRP recovery was not working so I upgraded to V3.01_20161209, ...

Can we rule out differnt hardware components used in the PLUS?

Hi there. The latest TWRP image for UMI Rome X does not work and give a black screen and then it boots up into the OS. I have tried everything out there - I tried MTK Droid Tools to make a new CWM recovery but it seems it doesn't work with lollipop. I have the latest ROM for UMI Rome X and I would appreciate it if you gave me an updated version of the recovery image, using the new boot.img of the latest ROM. Please respond ASAP and thanks in advance.

Hi,
I've added a newer, TWRP 3.0.2 recovery to the list. It should work but I cannot check it without a test device.

Unfortunately, this one also gives a black screen and then boots into system. There's no worries - I can start to compile a CWM custom recovery for this phone from source and then I will most probably move on to porting/making AOSP roms for this device. I feel like there is a lack of development and too many so-called reported 'bugs' with the stock version.

If I make a working CWM recovery, would you be happy to be notified and maybe add the working new recovery to the list as these ones already listed do not work with 3.0.5?

Does the newer one you have added use the kernel (boot.img) from the latest release or are you unaware?

Yes, I know that from user reports, this newer TWRP is compatible with the 3.0.5 version but that version has an even newer variant with new LCD driver, so you probably have that newer variant.

So do you have the latest varient with the latest LCD driver? I honestly do not want to get in the hassle of downloading 8-9GB of android source code let alone build and compile errors and would be grateful if you could share newer one if you have it. Are these custom recoveries made by the community? Do you have the resources available for me to send you the newest boot.img and stock recovery to make the new one?

If you don't have the latest one, please notify me ASAP so I can at least try to get CWM working on this device.
