Dear UMI Community,
first of all I want to thank you for such a wonderful phone. I received mine today and its muich better than all the other phones I had so far.
I have connected the UMI Touch with rootjoy and so far everything is working really well



Let's come to the interesting part, Custom ROMs for the UMI Touch.
I really appreciate that you keep updating the Android 6 Rom very well, even faster than most of the "well known" brands.
I am a developer and bought the phone as it has been announced to have the possibility of using Windows Mobile as operating system.
Many users are waiting for the W10-ROM to be released as W10 has become an established system on smartphones.

Some questions I would like to get answered by the UMI Team:
- When will W10 will be released for the UMI Touch?
- Is there a "Beta" - Programm which user could enroll to get W10 earlier ?
- Would it be possible to get any Video material of the current development process of W10 ?
- As Android's new version Android N has been released for some non-Nexus devices, is UMI already working on a ROM?

One major argument to sell the umi touch was rootjoy and a bunch a roms to come with the device (you can still check here):

When u say now that there will be no rootjoy support and seeing that apparently no alternative to the buggy android M rom is underway (espectially at least a WP8 rom as promised!) is a real deception and for me false advertising !

I belong (like others) to the bunch of people who bought the Umi Touch, after I read about the Rootjoy Rom installation feature.

I just felt down after I read you reply.

"UMI will suspend the Rootjoy app in the future."
"Future UMI products won't support to be updated with the Rootjoy app and the Touch is just on a border line"
"The decision about the suspension of Rootjoy was born after UMI Touch had been announced"

Really unhappy to read this, and I´m sure that other will also be.

It sound like a not mantained promise to me....or better said....a well organized Marketing "catch buyers" idea.

I can´t believe that alternative roms will be dispatched via OTA, due to several reasons.

This has been the primary reason for my purchase.

I thought I could bypass on the Umi Production issues:

- earpiece speaker not working after 2 days
- fingerprint sensor bad displaced on device
- charger faulty after 5 days, etc)

and now I have to read also about Rootjoy suspension.....

I really hope to ear soon that it´s been a huge misunderstanding and that UMI will deliver what she promised

Although I have commented on a different thread regarding ROM for Windows 10 Phone, it will really help if the development team can give us any indication if they are working on ROM for W10 Phone.

Apart of the other roms request, I would like to report some issues with latest android version TOUCH.v3.03-20160415_170010

I am having issues connecting bluetooth with my car stereo system, the Parrot asteroid smart. It pairs with the system, but the people I dial can't hear me although I can hear them, andI also heve issues with BT internet sharing.

Other bt handsfree system like Sony MW600 works fine, but I have experienced poor sound quality when the phone is in my pocket. Another antenna-gate ?

Unfortunately, there's a contradiction here. The use of Rootjoy needs root access on the phone but UMI Touch receives its updates via FOTA method, that cannot work on rooted phones. So, the two methods cannot work together. That's the reason because the UMI Touch stock ROMs are not rooted.
UMI will suspend the Rootjoy app in the future. Future UMI products won't support to be updated with the Rootjoy app and the Touch is just on a border line: The decision about the suspension of Rootjoy was born after UMI Touch had been announced.
Anyway you still can use Rootjoy to manage the content of your UMI Touch. If I get known any news about this case, I will publish it.

Hi, all, thanks for the advice, I had to eject the sd card as just deleting the cache and data on fota didn't work. All good now though but I agree with earlier comments, what a buggering about!
